Listening the whisper of history

I promised you yesterday, to tell you where am I and to show you some pictures of it. So I made a nice walk with my camera and captured a few images of this little town that I know so well and it feels like my second home!

Nafplio is a place with a long and turbulent history but then again Greece has a long and turbulent history altogether! Actually I have written that phrase so many times that I can be accused for plagiarism by myself :)

The main attraction though, is not some ancient remains (and there are plenty of them around here) but the historical center of the town, which was the capital of Greece from 1827 till 1834. It is old enough to have the charm of the past but not so old to be ruins on the ground. And when tourism came, all those old houses became goldmines. Now most of them are fully renovated and the old town in total, is a priceless tourism product!

Despite of the heavy commercialization, this is still a lovely place to be and wander. Not to mention that I can take pictures even with my eyes closed and still capture something beautiful :)

I have been here many times, in all seasons but never in February. Apparently it is the most quiet time of the year and many of the stores are closed but I am not a big fan of crowds (or shopping) so I enjoyed my walk just fine!

Among the scarce tourists, the few handymen and the empty storefronts, I was able to catch the vibe of the past and listen the history itself whispering through the narrow streets and the crumbling houses.

And of course when you walk in a Greek town there is always a cat checking you out and pretending she is not looking when you point the camera at her :)

Thank you very much @littlebee4 :)
It is cold indeed but I am guessing that it is much less than where you are!

You are welcome 👋🏻😊

Yep, probably… I posted today our end destination, where we moved to. A true winter wonderland. ☃️☃️☃️ snow everywhere I looked.
(Ps. Not right now but new snow is predicted)

Such a beautiful walk that place has such a charm to it, and I think I would prefer it now even if colder but less busy and less tourist so one can really get a feel of the place

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
