Subjective beauty

For days now, the news are warning us for extreme weather, snowfalls and storms all over the country. And in some parts of Greece this is the case indeed. But not here!
So instead of going out to play with the snow (which never came), I am once again taking pictures of flowers. Not so many as in springtime but still enough to treat you with a post full of them :)

The weather was cloudy and moody so I figured that a macro lens and a bit underexposure was fit for the day. My loyal canon EF 100 mm f2.8L macro lens didn't disappoint me and the wild flowers either!
A little editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic finished the images, although the truth is that they didn't need much editing in the first place.

I don't even now the names of most of those flowers but I am so grateful for their existence. They are humble, insignificant weeds that people pass by without even noticing them but if you care enough to look closer they are such beauties!
The complexity and diversity of their form, is just amazing. I have never regretted a closer look and a few more pictures of them :)

But even the thorns of a prickly pear take a more friendly, even appealing look through the tricks of a macro lens, don't you think so?

I hope that you enjoyed this little tour in the world of the flora around me, through the subjective, yet impressive look of a macro lens. Maybe soon I'll have for you some more descriptive pictures of where I am, so that you can have a better view of the place :)

It’s unimaginable to me that you can have threats of snow, etc and all these beautiful flowers at the same time. But then, I am in New England, an entirely different kettle of fish…. I did enjoy looking at all these. I think the first one or 2 are snapdragons…

It is only high on the mountains that we have snow that lasts. At the lowlands of Greece we may have snow for a day or two and then it melts. Usually it doesn't snow at all, for years. That's why the authorities are totally unprepared to deal with it and they are panicking every time there is a forecast for snow at the big cities!

I usually avoid vertical pictures for the first image but I liked it a lot :)

Beautiful flowers captured in great photos, the main one wastes delicacy, the white of the flower stands out and it is a very elegant photo.

The first flower is snapdragon or better known as dog flower. Did you open its petals by pressing the green connected part with the stem, it will open its petals like the mouth of a dog. I have many grown in my home garden.

That's very interesting. Thank you for letting me know! The next time I see one, I'll try it out :)
