☀️ The Flight of Salvation

An ancient legend tells of a land as legendary as the people who lived there, a land that existed so many years ago that not even time itself can tell. It was the distant land of Agaronte, a mystical place where, it is said, humanity was born.

Agaronte was a region of immense mountains that was lost high in the sky in its northernmost part, where immense cliffs marked the end of habitable lands. These lands were inhabited by the southern dorcos, a race of beings with the characteristics of beasts rather than men. They were notable for their fierceness and brutality, which caused endless and tragic clashes with the Dorintas, who occupied the highest areas of Agaronte, mainly due to the constant clashes with the Dorcos.

According to very old stories, the dorcos had begun a ferocious hunt against the dorintas, forcing them to take refuge in the heights of the mountains, very close to the immense cliffs. This area, in summertime, when temperatures were cooler, became the place of mating and birth of the new offspring of the marduces, very large birds, with a lot of plumage and similar to the current Condor of the Andes.

The dorcos had set themselves the task of exterminating the dorintas, motivated mainly by the bestiality in which they lived and that, in this way, they could ensure much more food for their race. The dorintas took refuge in the heights of the cliffs and it was only a matter of time before the dorcos attacked them and wiped them out. There was only one way to escape: jump into the vast sea, which stretched further down at the end of the cliffs.

Elaski, a young dorinta who liked to think up new and ingenious ways to make life easier for his people, had proposed to escape just as the marduces did, by flying.

"It's madness!" —said Mathiano, the maximum chief of the Dorintas, when Eliaski presented his plan to him. This consisted of a building, with bamboo beams, a rudimentary contraption, which would be covered with innumerable feathers from the marduces. Then, each inhabitant would throw himself into one of these specially built contraptions, which, shaped much like two large wings, would carry him through the air to the land where these birds flew when winter approached.

The problem was that, from the heights, the place where these birds supposedly flew to was not visible because of the perennial clouds that covered the route they took and, by sea, no one had ever even dared to enter it. At that time, the waters of the oceans were avoided by all the beings that inhabited Agaronte.

The moment of the denouement arrived, the dorcos had begun their final attack to exterminate the dorintas. These had taken refuge at the top of the cliffs, where Eliaski, foreseeing this situation, had given himself the task of building several feathered devices in which he was sure they could escape. Many of the dorintas had opted to jump to the bottom of the cliff, hoping to achieve a less atrocious death than at the hands of the savage dorcos or climbed into an apparatus that they were sure would plummet with them as soon as they leapt into the void.

"Just hold on tightly to this bar, try to keep the wing structure as straight as possible, and run and jump into the void, the wind will do the rest!" —Eliaski was talking to a large group of dorintas who, terrified and incredulous, did not see any other alternative to save their lives from the dorcos, which were getting closer and closer.

Eliaski held the apparatus that had been prepared for him, took some distance, and shouted to the Dorinths who were watching him in horror: "I'm waiting for you on the other side of the clouds!"

He then rushed to the edge of the cliff and launched himself into the void. The group rushed fearfully to the edge, but did not see Eliaski rise and, when they were resigned to certain death, suddenly, far below, the feathered apparatus with Eliaski attached to it, took flight, soared through the air, took altitude, and headed straight for the clouds. After a few minutes, it disappeared into the thick wind.

It was in this way that, armed with courage and with much fear of the new and unknown, a large group of dorintas managed to escape death at the hands of the dorcos, aboard rudimentary ships similar to birds and guided by a young and brave adventurer, who did not hesitate to risk his life to prove that with ingenuity and creativity, you can reach the clouds themselves.

Quite an interesting read. Humans are generally scared of any new invention that they don't understand, especially one that involves risking your life by jumping off a cliff but in this case, the Dorinths had no choice; fly or die. Kudos to Eliaski for coming up with that invention, he saw a need and fulfilled it swiftly. If not for him, everyone would have ended up dead

I was inspired by some good stories that I have known there and I wanted to give it that peculiar touch of someone who is ingenious and creates solutions for others. Thank you very much for such a kind evaluation.

A very creative story, @fragozar01! The eternal dream of flying like birds becomes reality here! There is a moral in your story that illustrates how hardship and fear are engines for inventiveness and imagination.

Perhaps a kind of Icarus-type epic in an imaginary world. They really invite us to consider so many options in our imagination with their great proposals. Grateful for the support.

There is an old saying that says: 'Great inventions come from necessity.' The boy saved his town with his great ingenuity, which was going to be annihilated by enemies. Finally they flew to freedom.

Thanks for sharing.
Good day.

The mysterious land, the warring factions, and the daring escapes, all add up to make this story a beautiful read.

I can't help but wonder if there's a deeper message or personal experience that inspired this story. Well one
