I love movies with deep silences and little conversations. The world, the setting, the make-up, the footage created by the movie are of tremendous quality. It's so good that I felt uncomfortable in some scenes. Because every scene is very realistic.

I probably don't want to give spoilers if we say the best one-on-one fight scenes ever, but the 2 one-on-one fight scenes in the middle and the end of the movie are definitely among the best. I watched it too late, I really liked it.

Apocalypto is a 2006 historical epic film directed by Mel Gibson and set in the pre-Columbian Yucatan Peninsula. The film follows the story of Jaguar Paw, a young Maya hunter who is captured along with his family and fellow villagers during a raid by a powerful Maya tribe. Jaguar Paw is taken on a journey to the Maya city of Tenochtitlan, where he is to be sacrificed to the gods. Along the way, he faces numerous challenges and must use his cunning and survival skills to escape his captors and make his way back home.

One of the standout elements of Apocalypto is its visual style. The film is set in the jungle and features stunning imagery of the Maya civilization and its surroundings. The film's production design is impeccable, with detailed sets and costumes that transport the viewer back in time. The cinematography is also noteworthy, with sweeping aerial shots of the jungle and tight close-ups of the characters' faces.

The film's cast is made up mostly of unknown actors, but they all deliver strong performances. Rudy Youngblood stars as Jaguar Paw, and he gives a physically and emotionally demanding performance as the film's protagonist. Morris Birdyellowhead, who plays Jaguar Paw's father, also stands out with his powerful and moving portrayal of a man fighting for the survival of his family.

In terms of its story, Apocalypto is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the film does an excellent job of depicting the harsh realities of life in the Maya civilization, and the brutal violence and ritual sacrifice that were a part of everyday life. However, the film's plot is somewhat predictable and doesn't offer many surprises. The film's pacing can also be a bit slow at times, with some scenes dragging on for longer than necessary.

Despite these flaws, Apocalypto is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful film. It's a testament to Gibson's directorial talent and the dedication of the film's cast and crew.

While it may not be a perfect film, it's a worthwhile and entertaining watch for fans of historical epics and adventure stories. It's one of those rare movies that I wish I had seen in the cinema.
