My name is Samuel, I have been waiting for this moment since I first learned firsthand of the evil in Albert's heart. He has not only harassed the children and women of the apartment, but he was now my prime suspect in the death of young Marianne; I was not at the scene of the crime but something told me that I had to tell the police about those pink tennis shoes I had found.
So without my mother's permission I went to the homicide department and took those tennis shoes with me. There I told them that from my window I had witnessed how Albert had left the pink tennis shoes that were in my hands today, and they immediately approached me with hundreds of questions that didn't faze me.
How did I know that the deceased did not have her tennis shoes, at that moment I understood that without a doubt he had been the murderer, then I told them how my neighbor had always been a sexual predator and that on several occasions he had tried to assault the girls in our community several times. I told them how he had tried to rape me while threatening me with a knife, I also gave them details of the rumors that were heard about his fondness for bestiality.

Él no solo ha acosado a los niños y mujeres del piso, sino que ahora era mi principal sospechoso de la muerte de la joven Marianne; no estuve en la escena del crimen pero algo me decía que tenía que contar a la policía sobre aquellos tenis rosa que había encontrado.

Les relaté que había como intentado violarme mientras me amenazaba con un arma blanca, también les ofrecí detalles de los rumores que se escuchaban acerca de su afición al bestialismo.
The policemen could not believe their ears, apparently I had given them clues that they could not dismiss. The first thing they did was to analyze the traces of blood on the tennis shoes in search of the DNA it contained, it was a quick process where they found 2 types of blood one of them corresponded to Marienne's profile and the other to that of a man,
I was pleased to see how the investigation was progressing so fast, there was a lot of public and media pressure to clarify the facts prior to the atrocious crime. I just waited impatiently for the capture of that depraved man and when that moment came I could not understand the happiness I felt, justice would be done not only for Marianne but for me and for many victims.
Albert was caught while leaving the apartment wearing a fireman costume and did not resist arrest, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in a painful trial where he recounted the details of his infamous murder before Marianne's family. No one ever knew that it was me who had turned him in, I wanted to be an anonymous hero. My mother could not believe that I had been abused, but I did not want to expose myself any more because I felt that with that man in jail a cycle was also closing for me.

Yo solo esperaba impaciente por la captura de aquel depravado y cuando llego ese momento no podía entender la felicidad que sentía, se haría justicia no solo para Marianne sino para mí y para muchas víctimas.
Albert fue atrapado mientras salía del apartamento llevaba un disfraz de bombero y no se resistió al arresto, fue condenado a cadena perpetua en un juicio doloroso donde relato los detalles de su infame asesinato ante la familia de Marienne. Nadie nunca supo que había sido yo el que lo había delatado, quería ser un héroe anónimo. Mi mama no podía creer que hubiera sido abusado, pero no quise exponerme más porque sentía que con aquel hombre en la cárcel también un ciclo se cerraba para mí.
My life continued and I no longer wanted to be the guardian of the window, my purposes were different. I think that since then I discovered the passion that would be the engine of my life; criminalistics. That career would help me put the bad guys in their place and help the victims of any crime to obtain justice.
Twenty years later Albert managed to escape from prison thanks to his good behavior but was arrested within a few months when he attempted to rape a prostitute with a knife. Evil never stops in the hearts of the wicked, but I continue to work so that cases like Marianne's (or mine) never happen again.
Mi vida continúo y ya no quise ser más el guardián de la ventana, mis propósitos eran otros. Creo que desde ese entonces descubrí la pasión que sería el motor de mi vida; la criminalística. Esa carrera me ayudaría a poner a los malos en su sitio y ayudar a las víctimas de cualquier crimen a obtener justicia.
20 años después Albert logró escapar de la cárcel gracias a su buen comportamiento pero fue detenido en pocos meses al intentar violar con una navaja a una prostituta. La maldad nunca se detiene en el corazón de los malvados, pero sigo trabajando para que casos como el de Marianne (o como el mío) jamás se vuelvan a repetir.
