A Venezuelan in Northeast Ohio
Kent "The Tree City", Ohio
Hello Community!
My name is Francis Aponte and I have been living in the charming city of Kent since 2019. That year, I left the warm and sunny city of Cumaná- Venezuela, to pursue my graduate studies at the renowned Kent State University. In this post, I will have the pleasure of showing you what this city has to offer visitors and locals.
Kent is located in Northeast Ohio, at a driving distance from Cleveland ( 38 miles/61 kilometers). The city has a population of 30.000 inhabitants, and it is known as "The Tree City🌳". This due to the amount of trees and greenery that can be found in the area.

The economic, social and cultural driving force of the city is Kent State University main campus. Ranked among the top 100 universities in the USA, Kent State is the city's major employer and the main reason people from all over the world come here.

Kent and its surroundings is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The city offers rivers, lakes, parks, hiking and bicycle trails for the enjoyment of nature and outdoor activities. Its variety of bars, restaurants and coffee shops are also an excellent option for those looking fun after a busy day of study of work.
Downtown Kent
Living in Northeast Ohio has allowed me to experience the four season and their unique beauty: spring and the blooming of flowers, winter with its white layer of snow, autumn and its variety of colors, and sunny and warm summer.
