Post of the Month, Compliment of the Month, & Comment of the Month Contest on the FreeCompliments Community – August 2023!

Welcome to the very first community-based voting contest for the Post of the Month, Compliment of the Month, and Non-Compliment Comment of the Month! The goal of this contest is to encourage the creation of quality content, respectful discussion, both long-form and short-form, for the betterment of the community and its members.

The winner of the Post of the Month and Compliment of the Month will win 5 HSBI + 1000 Ecency Points, and runner-ups of these plus the Non-Compliment Comment of the Month will win 3 HSBI + 500 Ecency Points.

Additionally, our winners and runner-ups will have the opportunity of nominating next month’s post, compliment, and non-compliment comment of the month!

How to Vote:

Our community account (@hive-140084) will post each entry as a separate comment and whichever gets the most votes will win! This will not be stake-based voting; every individual’s vote will count equally. Please vote only for your favorite post / compliment / non-compliment comment. If you are short on voting power or wish to save it, then leave a comment under your choice in lieu of a vote, and it will be counted as a vote.

The same rules will apply for any write-in content.

My personal votes + @fc-curation won’t count towards the tally of votes, as I already created the shortlist of content in this post. The vote will be completely democratic.

We’ll conclude the voting process within a week’s time in order to allow for sufficient time for everyone to vote.

Conclusion

Here is August’s contest: we’re providing our members an opportunity to vote for their choice of Post of the Month, Compliment of the Month, and Non-Compliment Comment of the Month! The post announcing the next contest will be made in the first week of October to permit a week’s worth of nominations prior to revealing the winners.

I did actually consider that as a possible mechanism, so you're not off the track at all! However, it might end up being a little bit difficult to implement for tallying purposes.

It might work once I organize the contest a little bit more, so this idea is not discounted by any means. For now, though, we'll keep it very simplistic.

Well it comes with its cons too, one upvote by a big account can make someone winner but it reduces the risk of people making multiple accounts and upvoting them.

However, it might end up being a little bit difficult to implement for tallying purposes.

Well you can just look at the comment reward and choose the one with the maximum rewards. So, it might not be difficult to implement but has the above problem of a whale upvoting their friend and that guy winning every time.

So, you can then use a Hybrid system, which is the best of both worlds but requires some precise calculations and that's hard to implements.

So you can use.... (I should stop at this point 🤣)

Oh, when you said stake-based I thought you meant solely on the basis of % of your vote! No, I definitely wouldn't do it based on the voter's HP stake. I don't think that's democratic.

Just based on the % of their vote. One person's 50% vote = another person's 50% vote.

That does indeed pose the risk of an alt account voting, something that, for some reason, I didn't consider even though I usually do! I'm hoping that we can count on integrity here, but we'll see what happens initially ad adjust as needed. At this point, we're not even there yet, haha.
