Talk-It-Out Thursdays on the FreeCompliments Community: An Essential Themed Day that Represents the Heart of the Community! Plus, Community Rewards For Reaching 100 Members!

avatar
(Edited)

Today, I will introduce what I would consider the most important themed day of the FreeCompliments Community. As the FreeCompliments Community account grows to have a more valuable vote, themed posts may get a slightly higher vote percentage in order to encourage posting, yet would still be based on quality.

While the topics are themed on certain days, this does not mean that these themes are not permitted on other days. It’s just an incentive to encourage posting! All topics are allowed on all days.

In maintaining consistency with prior ideas, any posts which add the the FreeCompliments Community account as a beneficiary would receive an Ecency Boost of at least 150 points ($1 worth of votes). This percentage is currently 10%, and will be reduced over time.

Talk-It-Out Thursdays

One of the key features on this community is the provision of mental and emotional support to those who request or need it. This themed day will serve as an invitation and reminder for people to post their thoughts, concerns, and worries in the community, with the expectation that our members will respond to them in an empathetic and understanding manner, and converse with them about whatever they feel at that moment in time.

The anonymity of the internet provides a channel for people to express themselves in ways that may not normally be possible or comfortable when one’s identity is known. This themed day will provide the opportunity to do so. Naturally, we encourage this on days other than Thursday as well.

In the interest of freedom of speech, for the purpose of this type of post, we will only upvote replies that attempt to be helpful. Those which are genuinely mean-spirited, antagonistic, or unwelcoming will not be upvoted. They will not be muted, and instead, we plan to address the people leaving such comments in an empathetic manner - after all, those leaving such comments may well be the people who need our help the most.

I’d refer people to this essential set of guidelines prior to interacting with someone who’s in genuine distress.

So that people are aware of the theme, just make sure to title the post with “Talk-It-Out Thursdays” in the title. When other people view the post, this can help them see exactly what this community is all about!

Remember to not spam or you’ll lose the FreeCompliments community account’s votes completely. Spamming would consist of posting the same exact content over and over, or posting a very large amount of nearly-identical content over and over. Reposting the same request would count as spam; reposting the same minimalistic replies time and time again (i.e. “nice”) would also count as spam.

Conclusion

Keeping in line with the FreeCompliments’ commitment to improving mental health, Talk-It-Out Thursdays are another themed day intended to provide a space for people to share their worries, concerns, and thoughts, and for us to provide the support that they need.

Here are our current themed days:
Motivational Mondays
Taco Tuesdays
Talent Tuesdays
Talk-It-Out Thursdays (this post!)
Fun Fridays
Selfie Saturdays

Additional Community Rewards – Celebrating 100+ Members!

Yesterday afternoon, July 25th 2023, we broke the 100 member barrier! I did not expect such rapid growth; it was on June 14th that we reached the 50 member mark. It’s incredible, and I’m truly thrilled with how quickly we’re starting to expand.

Thus, to celebrate, on the 1st of August, I’ll be sending out 2 HSBI for every member who joins by that date, rather than the usual 1 HSBI! Let’s get as many people to join as we can (and remember that successful referrals to the community get HSBI rewards as well).

What do you think? Are there any other themed days you would suggest, particularly for Wednesday and Sunday?

I would love to hear any and all opinions about these topics from everyone who is currently a member of FreeCompliments, since you’re all inaugural members! Anyone else who finds this page is also very welcome to voice their opinion. We’re all about free speech, and everyone’s experience has value.

More posts with further ideas incoming soon!

This is quite thoughtful. Talking things out is one of the best ways to help reduce the pressure and possibly not find a solution from someone or somewhere we were not thinking about before.

I've been one to box it up in my head but I later realize that it's okay to talk to someone.

Absolutely, a lot of have the same tendency to keep things inside. We see it as a sign of weakness to express ourselves - and from a cultural standpoint, this is quite common, including in my own culture.

Here, it's ok to ask for help. You're just a human here, along with the rest of us, and deserve to have a humane conversation if that's what you need. This is what matters.

You're right. Having a humane conversation matters. Culture as we see it has been constructed to create more problems than it could ever solve.

I think we suffer from cultural norms and standards, even more, today because everyone wants to do what is acceptable, which isn't always satisfactory to our soul and existence. Sometimes doing the opposite of what the crowd does might just be the right thing to do even when it means talking about your vulnerability with others instead of becoming complacent and entitled like we will be the first ones to be faced with difficulties.

Indeed, here we have the freedom to break away from expectations.

Even on a societal level, however, taking care of ourselves is beneficial: if we cannot care for ourselves, how can we care for and benefit society? Our own health must come first.

Thanks so much, I genuinely appreciate that! I'll send you 1 HSBI from the community account for that tip of generosity. 😊

I'm genuinely proud of this particular themed day. I hope it ends up having a substantial positive impact on people.

Interesting theme that will call for genuine engagement, you're doing just well.

So that people are aware of the theme, just make sure to title the post with “Talent Tuesdays” in the title. When other people view the post, this can help them see exactly what this community is all about!

I think it should be Talk it out Thursday

Sometimes it becomes difficult to express all the problems and worries that we have. Anonymity allows us to do so with more freedom. It is a great initiative, I hope many people are encouraged to express their concerns.

Its so important to speak (or write) out what truely is deep inside us. Still its very difficult for most people because society is so "everything has to be perfect" driven.

How about #happywednesday ? What makes us feel good and happy. Haha happysunday is easy but wednesday? 😉 The Inspiration came from todays #waveschallenge topic by @ecency-star

Wisdomsunday, Insightsunday, ...

Exactly, and a better version of society would be able to acknowledge that we're inherently imperfect, and that's a natural aspect of the human condition.

Interesting suggestions! I do have Fun Fridays, but that might be a little bit different in nature to what you're suggesting. Can you think of a word that would be an alliteration for Wednesday or Sunday and still have that vibe? Maybe Sunny Sunday (or is that somewhat unclear)?

This is crazy nice, I learnt about this community from a friend’s (@wongi) post about her 2 years on hive celebration to which she spoke so highly of you and this post says it all.
A job well done 👍🏽 I wish I could sound the alarm in getting more people here. I will make a post here for sure.

Life does have a way of doing a thing or two to our mental state, it's ways like this that lets Off a few of these burdens. Thanks🙏🏽

I would love to see you post here and possibly have people come on! The more people we have, the easier it will be for us to accomplish the mission of spreading joy throughout Hive. And naturally, if you ever need the help, we're here for you.

And by the way, knowing that @wongi brought you on just earned her 2 HSBI! 😁

The pleasure is mine.

This community will be resounding with loads of people that share its interest, it has only just begun (time will prove it).

Thank you so much for such kind words. I am utterly grateful🙏🏽 And yes the good course you push is deeply felt, hive will not be the only beneficiary, I know that for sure. Please keep it up.
Thank you for the gift to my friend and invitee.💕

Talk it out Thursday blis just splendid!.

Sundays are always really calm in the part of the world where I'm from and from observation, people always tend to speak/ write from an open heart. So how bout a #freesunday or #opensunday. When people get to speak freely and openly but in a respectful manner.

This is certainly a very nice idea, and the cultural aspect of this is powerful, but I'd have to ask: how would this be functionally different from Talk-It-Out Thursdays? Only in terms of having a distinct themed day.

Thanks for sharing ideas! 😊

(And also, thanks for that beautiful post!)

With the talk it out theme, people can say what is/ has been on their minds. But with freesunday is a way of diving a little bit more into our emotions having it at the back of our minds that community members would support you each step of the way.

now that I think of it, the two themes have a really striking resemblance

See, that's where the issue lies... it does end up being very similar. Talk-It-Out Thursday is exactly what you described, haha.

I'm wondering if there's some type of way we can integrate @beeber's idea with yours to make it somewhat independent and unique. The alliteration of using an S is also tricky, haha.

We'll keep figuring it out! Thanks so much for contributing. 😊

Freesunday in the meaning of Feeling free or beeing free to write everything ? Yes freedom can also go with insights and using calmness to find new ways.
Where do you live @wongi ? Here everyone seems to be so crazy busy on weekends 😅

But my first idea was about the #happywednesday 🙂

The idea of insight and freedom goes well together. I think #insightsunday would be a better generic name as it captures the meaning nicely. What do you think?

Oh, I live in Nigeria and everyone is crazy busy here on weekends too but all the craziness is majorly replaced with stillness on Sundays, especially in the morning; I dunno how😅

Excellent work and even more amazing is the large amount of engagement here!

Absolutely amazing work.

Keep it up and every single one of your followers is absolutely invited to my free secrets of Hive class.

Hi can actually be an amazing place for individuals who are on disability and can't work. Kind of like me. Right now I'm going through a health situation and I've been on my butt for the past 7 days. I can't get out and go do anything...

However I can write an amazing post and do really good here on hive as well as engage and communicate with amazing people from around the world...

And I can do amazing things like help inspire others and enable them to do positive moves here on our blockchain!

Excellent work and I'm extremely happy to be able to support this! You are doing an awesome job and I see an amazing amount of success in this positive initiative and beginning community!

Thanks so much, brother! This is very meaningful. I do hope that your health improves, because without our health, what do we truly have?

I'll certainly make a post about your free class in due time. I have a few more updates about the community coming up, and when I finish those and we have some more people, I'll announce it loud and clear. I'm certain you'll have a few people flocking to you. 😁

Talk It Out Thursday

Awesome. People have burnt up emotions and this will be an avenue to let it out and get feedbacks from community members which will be really helpful.

I'm looking at "Wishful Wednesday"
where one can talk about the things he or she had wished but didn't happen. It could also come in the way of what the person's wish at the moment or in future.

In my city, Weekends especially Sundays are usually for visiting friends, family members, going to pleasure parks, fun parties and the rest. So I think "Family Sunday".

(Edited)

Thanks so much! 😊

That's a very interesting idea for Wednesday. I think a practical way to use Wishful Wednesday would be to write out wishes and a plan for how we're tackling the process of making them come true. That would encourage people to actively reach for their wishes. What do you think about that?

I think this can also involve @beeber's idea of a "happy" Wednesday, where we think about what makes us happy, and our wishes are something that would, indeed, make us happy.

Regarding Sunday, I'll tag @beeber and @wongi here because they also had some ideas. Combining their ideas, we can have a sort of "Insightful Sunday" to reflect upon the week in any way we wish (did I understand the concepts correctly?). Is there a way that we can also integrate family into this?

I think the "fun" part is already covered in Fun Fridays, so that part might be a bit repetitive. I think Fun Fridays would be a great opportunity to post about what you did on Sunday though!

Edit: also @mviews who suggested study/summary Sundays. I think that can fit well into the "Insight" theme where you reflect on what you've read or studied, if that makes sense.

That would be lovely.

All the ideas are great, if integrating one or more of them will help get the desired topics, it would be welcomed.
Thank you

So many great ideas 🙂 @wongi @mviews @luchyl

#wishfulwednesday would go very well with beeing Happy and maybe Thankfull also? To focus on positive in the middle of the week.
Wishing too often is focused negative on "buuhuu I dont have this" instead of turning around in "this is what I want"

Sunday.. you found the Word I think: #reflectionsunday ?covering everything like insight study family friends good things bad things

I think we have a pretty solid idea for Wednesday now! We'll finalize this soon, pending any other feedback.

My only concern with Sunday is the lack of alliteration. It may sound a touch petty, but the ease of remembering a themed day is important for marketing purposes. I can barely remember my own name these days, so having an easy themed day is essential for me as well. 😉

"Sunday Reflections" does come to mind as a possibility, and it would stick out among other themed days. However, if you can think of a word that starts with "S" that would be great as well! I'm also partial to @wongi's "Insightful Sunday" because it has a prominent "s" as a second syllable in the first word.

Oh as no native English speaker I rather am out of ideas with alliteration, also finding other words with the meaning. But for sure you will find the right tag out of all these great ideas

I was thinking about the Sunday theme and I just got some ideas that can maybe nudge us to something more creative and also help have a kind of screen-free theme for Sundays.

It's a free day of course and many people are free to have fun and do what they want. It's also the best time to have screen-free time for themselves on Sunday, one we can use to study.

We can read a book(new or old) and make a summary of what we've learned so far. It can be in chapters or a summary of the whole book. We can even call it #summary Sundays or go with study Sundays.

I know Sundays are meant for fun, but studying too can also be fun.

This is just my two cents I'll drop in when I have one for Wednesday.

Screen-free time is underrated! I say that as someone who uses too much screen time lol.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. 😊

I tagged you in another comment above which I think integrates your ideas. If we implement this, maybe you can create Sunday posts where you reflect exactly the way you described: summary of what you've read or studied! I think that would a very educational use of this type of theme.
