Curation rewards: every hive does count! So make it count!

avatar

I am on a mission. My mission is to have 10K HP at the end of the year. Most of this increase probably will have to be funded from outside Hive. I am not the best writer in the world, nor the most consistent. For the moment I have no insight how much I did earn since the beginning of the year with posting, not did I have an insight into my curation earnings.

The curation earnings at the moment are more constant that the income from writing, so I will start with that. Maybe later on this week, I will try to make also a blogging overview.

Curation rewards 2022

I do know that the rewards have changed over the years, but no idea anymore how and what is changed. Will maybe take some time later on to dive into that. Today I will just write about the pure metrics.

Probably the best way to start is to give an insight in the growth of the account!
I did start the year with 4792,392 HP and at the moment the account is backed by 6493 HP. Wich is a huge increase. This increase should be visible in the curation rewards, at least that is what I do hope.
Another important factor is how I do upvote. This is a mix between 50% autovotes and 50% manual votes.

When I do look at the stats from the peakd dashboard, it almost does look like a mountain stage of the tour the France. While I can relate to that fact that not each day is the same, nor that it would be a perfect linear increase, this still did shock me. I do know the reason for this, but that will become clear further in the article.

The most important thing for me in the table above is that the minimum income per day almost did increase with 40%. This is also cleary visible in the graph from peakd. The valleys aren't that low anymore. Not only that but also the average curation rewards per day have increased. If I can keep this up, I would earn around 330 HP in the rest of the year by just curating posts. Not a lot, but also not bad either.

And the 7 day average does tell me that this could be more. The bigger the account gets, the more curation rewards will flow in, if I keep on doing the same! And I will! There is no use in funding the account so that it gets bigger without use the extra power given to me.

Weekdays vs weekend!

Told you that I could explain why the valleys were so deep. This mostly has to do with weekends. I am not so active online during the weekends. Which often did result in a remaining voting power above 90%. Clearly because a lot of manual votes weren't handed out and also because lots of the people I do follow aren't so active during weekends. Which is great!

WeekdayTotal HPAvg HP
Monday25.7551.226
Tuesday25.9981.238
Wednesday23.091.155
Thursday26.1731.309
Friday24.2671.213
Saturday22.3391.064
Sunday20.7830.99

This tables does teach me that I can't make up the lost votes during the weekend on Monday and Tuesday, nor like I can't fix it on Thursday because apparently I am also not that active on Wednesday!
The fix is simple. 10 minutes of time on Sunday is more than enough to increase my curation income a little bit.

While the stats above are meaningless for most, I did gave me some insight. Be more consistent is rewarded on the Hive blockchain!

Now, time for a long weekend! But I will drop by from time to time.

Cheers,
Peter

Do you know the legal name of @themarkymark ???? It is needed to contact his local police station. Any information to his whereabouts would be much appreciated.

I am also not the best writer and earn low rewards, but I believe consistency is key as all the little bits add up over time!!

Well underway!
I see the same week/weekend difference by the way. Probably because less posts are usually written (or because I have other things te do..).

Posting during the busiest times can help with exposure but also opens you up to more competition for eyeballs. Posting during the slower times, can allow your post to stand out but to a smaller potential audience. I still do post on weekends whenever I have the time and something to say.

Weekends are key for my voting power to recover. It took me forever to find the right combination of autovotes and manual votes to keep my percentage high so that everyone involved can benefit as much as possible.

Currently I do try to keep it on 80%. No idea if that is smart or not.

Nice work on the analysis here man, what do I need to do to see similar for myself? I would be interested to see how my journey is evolving....

I think it is great to have a mission and your quest for 10K is surely doable, especially with the drop in Hive value now, meaning HBD goes a lot further. Even though I am disappointed that Hive is down, I am treating this time as an opportunity to grow and have not slowed down one iota.

I did base it on the dashboard in peakd. Then did go to the curation tile and did some work intensive labor from there on. So did put all that information into a spreadsheet.
It is indeed maybe better to convert the HDB into Hive at the moment in stead of placing it onto the bank.
Thx for the comment.

Very good, I stil just use the Hive frontend! I must give the PeakD one a go. Can you prewrite posts for specific day on that front end?
