Some insights into my Hive posting!

Just like yesterday I did take some time to get some insight into my Hive postings. While the work is done; the analysis for sure isn't. Also to get a better insight of course more metrics are needed. But we do have to start somewhere.

I did use peakd as a starting point and did look all my post since the beginning of the year. Per post I did put the following info into a numbers sheet:

  • Date
  • Time
  • Category
  • Pay-out

Maybe I should also add the comment to that. But with all the Pizza, Beer and other tokens, this could give a blurred vision.

Number of posts

Well so far I only wrote 62 posts this year, this one is number 63. Which is pretty low if you do know that I have been writing on daily basis for more than one year.
The biggest gap between 2 posts was a whopping 26 days. Which can be easily explained. Nothing so much to do with Hive but real life kicking me in the nuts hard! Very hard! First Covid followed by the unexpected death of one of our best friends!
This can explain the biggest gap, but the average days between 2 posts is 2,36 days. Way too much. There is so much to write about and so many tools. Actifit could be a real saver in this aspect. But I always try to create posts which does give additional value to Hive. Not that this always works but that is another discussion.

Pay-out

This of course is a little bit harder to calculate. Due to the fact that I did gather my information from Hive, I did use the payout for the author in Hive.
I total this was 179,158 Hive. On average 3,088 per post. So I did miss out on at least 200 Hive by not posting.
The biggest pay day was 9,936 Hive, the lowest was 0,806. I only do earn big time (at least for me) when OCD or Curangel does pick up my post. But that is probably for most of us.

Weekdays

We already discussed yesterday that it isn't so busy here on Hive during the weekends. And I am no exception to that!

For some reason Tuesday is my best day, Saturday isn't too bad. Sunday is a complete different story. The weekdays are in Dutch but do start on Monday.

Categories

I also tried to fit my posts into a category. Maybe there is a topic which has more success than others. Not that I would stick to that topic.

A little bit surprised that I do write so much about Crypto, because I am not even close to being an expert. Due to the fact that most people here on Hive; if not all are interested into Crypto, this of course is the top category. But also see that the Life category isn't performing so well. Not shocking because I do have a dull life :).

Beer posts also seem to do well. This of course due to the vivid #beersaturday community. Maybe that category should get some more attention. I do love beer, I do love to try out new beers, so I can better write more about it.

Time of day

Due to the fact that I only have written 62 post, this doesn't say a lot at the moment, but maybe I can give me some insight later on, when I do have more posts in my spreadsheet! To be complete I will present it anyway.

Conclusion

I could/should maybe write some more posts and if I do want to reach the desired 10K at the end of the year maybe I should use the actifit posting some more in days when I didn't write a decent post. But I should try to fancy up these post a little bit more.
Maybe also should move some of my Splinterland posts from my alt account to my main account. Multiple reasons for that, my main account has much more attention and a shit load of auto votes! But also here I will have to make sure that I don't flood my blog with them.

Consistency combined with engagement are the corner stones to success on Hive. The definition of success will be different for all of us. So are happy with what they get, while other do have to plan/ambition to become a new whale in the Hive ocean.
Mine is in between. I am serious when I write that I do love a comment maybe a little bit more than an upvote, but the combination of both are of course heaven on Hive.

Cheers,
Peter

Have you checked out hivestats.io yet? That is run by the Leo group and it is pretty awesome for pulling some of that information. They do a good job of keeping it updated and stuff.

I did. Also could use the dashboard of peakd. But then you do need to take into account that the payout is 7 days later. Also it could be blurred by upvoted comments.
