A delicious and affordable lunch at Isle Eating House (Orchard Road)

I remember in a local TV show it was mentioned that the hawker culture is a vital aspect of the country. Every district has multiple hawker centers that are tirelessly serving good and affordable meals to people regardless of their social status. I think that without the hawker culture, Singapore will never be the same. The hawker culture is evolving and yet it's still managed to stay true to its purpose which is to offer good food that everyone can afford.

There's a specific hawker center in the middle of one of the most expensive commercial districts in the city that I tried recently. The name of the place is Isle Eating House. Their market is the people who work in the offices, shopping malls, and everyone who passes by the Orchard Road.

What I observed is that the people who are queuing here are salary men and women from the nearby offices and commercial establishments. So I thought that the food was expensive because these people are earning a good amount of income. And since the place is located on Orchard Road then I assumed that the price is much higher than a regular hawker food stall. I was surprised to learn that even though I ordered 3 viands with one of them fish, I only paid around S$6! That's the same average price that I'll get at a mixed-veggie rice stall everywhere in the city.

They have plenty of options to choose from and they prepare a lot for the incoming customers.

The service was fast and yet a queue of at least 20 people kept piling up the corridor of the establishment. The queue may be long but with the efficient way of service by the crew, they can serve 1 person every minute which makes the customers happy. These people are in a rush so they need food and service that will suit their preference.

I'm pleased with the quality of the food, especially the saba fish. It's fresh and was prepared well. The quality of the stir-fried vegetables is also. I enjoyed every dish and was satisfied after this meal.
