A Yakitori experience at Tori-Q (Japanese style BBQ place)

It's been a while since I ate at Tori-Q, it's one of my favorite Yakitori places. They have gotten expensive over the years so I seldom go to any of their stalls anymore until yesterday. I was looking for food that was different from my typical food choices so I decided to go for Japanese food.

I went to their Yishun branch because it has dining tables where I could eat right away. Most of their branches are only meant for takeaways but I don't feel like carrying my food back to my house before I can eat. I think that it's going to be a waste of energy and it will be annoying to be smelling my food and not be able to have a taste of it 😅.

A stick of pork belly-wrapped asparagus, one of the skewers that I order.

The proper Yakitori stall makes a Japanese dish of chicken bite-sized pieces that are grilled on skewers. Most parts of the chicken are utilized and cooked in the same manner.

The version that we have here in Singapore consists of other chicken, pork, and vegetables. I think they did this to suit the taste of the locals here.

There's no doubt, Japanese rice is one of the best.

The corridor that leads to the stall is fully decorated with Japanese lanterns. It feels like I was walking along the narrow streets of Japan, it's beautiful.

It's awesome that they haven't changed their products. I can still recall every type of skewer that they have.

I ordered the version of rice with seaweed and cucumber pickles. And for the skewers, I got myself chicken, quail eggs, chicken balls, and pork with asparagus. All of these items cost me S$9.90 which is more expensive than what I remember it to be.

Among the skewers that I chose, the pork-wrapped asparagus is my favorite and it is followed by the chicken balls. It's delicious! I like the taste of the marinade and sauce where they dipped all of the cooked skewers.

I enjoyed this dinner experience so I will come back to this spot over to try the other types of skewers.
