Late night cravings for Pineapple Fried Rice at BKK Bistro

Last night, I went to BKK Bistro for a late supper. It was already 10:00 PM so my options are very few. Every hawker stalls have already closed for the night and the only options I have are restaurants that operate late.

As soon as I arrived to the place, I’m quite surprised that there are many customers during this night. I didn’t took photo of them but I observed that about half of the tables were occupied. Some are eating while the others were drinking. I never thought of drinking beer or liquors at a place like this because of the obvious reason that it’s going to be very expensive. Alcoholic drinks is one of the absurdly expensive item that you will see in groceries so it’s much more expensive in a bar. I would never want to spend my money on drinks that are overly priced 😅.

For my dinner, I ordered Pineapple Fried Rice!

Whenever I go to a Thai restaurant, my go to dish to order is Pineapple Fried rice. This is the only dish that I can’t find at any other types of restaurants. I observed that only Thai chefs are the ones who are able to make this dish that has the right balance between the sweet and savory taste.

I'm amazed that only Thai chefs have dared to explore this kind of flavor combination. It's as if this is the dish that is too difficult to make it right.

I'm not sure if everyone will like putting pineapple mixed in their fired rice but I find it nice. I think this is a taste that the regions in the ASEAN would enjoy. Personally, I enjoy this flavor combination because it feels like I'm getting a good nutrition from it too.

This is the kind of dish that I would enjoy at least twice a month. My favorite spot to enjoy this dish is the Thai restaurant along Beach Road because they use good quality prawn. On top of that, it's also affordable at a price of S$7.80 while this one from BKK is priced at S$10.80.

I guess, I'm paying for the place hence the price of the food is so much higher at BKK compared to Boraan. If I'm only interested in eating a portion of good food then I would simply go to Boraan and enjoy a satisfying meal.

My journey to the world of food.

I think many of the cuisines don’t use pineapple as one of the ingredients to a dish.
