My first taste of Kheng Fatt Hainanese Beef Noodles

It requires skill, creativity, & confidence to be able to set up a hawker business. It’s a highly competitive landscape because everyone is eager to attract the attention of the masses. The pricing is also a critical aspect of a hawker business. A price that’s too high will have a difficulty in attracting the customers because there are plenty of good hawker food that are quite affordable. By pricing it too low then your business will suffer profit losses which will lead to bankruptcy.

Keeping up with the daily hustle of running a hawker stall can be tiring. Personally, I don’t know difficult it is as I haven’t actually experienced it however, I can by observing that it’s not an easy business to run.

One of busiest hawker food center in the city is the Golden Mile Food Centre along Beach Road. It’s one of the best in the city because it offers a variety of hawker stalls that adapted different cuisines from different countries. From Chinese, Malay, Indian, Thai, Western and the others that I haven’t tried.

Last night’s dinner, I had the chance to order from Kheng Fatt Hainanese Beef Noodles.

I’ve dined here in Golden Mile food centre a couple times but it’s my first time notice that there’s such stall. A huge food center like this can be confusing to navigate so that’s probably the reason why.

This hawker is quite famous and has appeared to a local TV show already. The proof is this photo of the Owner together with the host of the show.

To be able to keep a hawker business running is already considered as an achievement. And if you’re able to get the attention of TV shows then that’s considered as an award like no other which is why the owners of hawker stalls who made it to a TV show will make sure to display it in their shops.


This shop specializes in Beef Noodles which is an indication of a hawker stall that has a strong focus in presenting their product to the masses. I ordered #2 which is a combination of Beef slices and Beef balls. It’s the dried version so the sauce is thick and savory as well.

A quick glance with the dish has got me wondered why there are crushed peanuts on top of it. I’m not sure why but I guess it’s for the added flavor and texture. I’m a fan of savory dishes with crushed peanuts but this one seems okay since it’s not that much.

The beef slices and beef balls are well made. It’s fresh and was cooked at the right temperature. On my next visit, I will try the version with a soup in it. See you!
