The other day I was sharing with my cousin at my grandmother's house, she loves to draw and she told me "Gabriel, let's draw".

I also like drawing, as you may have noticed, so I sat with her at the table with pencil, colors and paper. Among all the things we drew, some sketches she made with a ballpoint pen really caught my attention.

I asked her which character it was and she told me that she had invented them. I really don't know, I had never seen a character like that, but the whole process she followed to make these characters really caught my attention.

Notice that in some of the sketches she makes the shape of the face, the eyes, the cross to mark more or less the height where the eyes or the nose should be. It is very interesting that at this point he does all that, without even taking classes or anything.

I remember that I showed the drawings to her mom and dad and she loved them. I recommended, in a good way, that they take an interest in enrolling her in drawing classes, because it is a talent that she has and should be taken advantage of, now that she is little. Who knows, maybe in the future she will be a great drawer.

Well, after drawing, my little cousin told me "Gabriel, you can do these drawings on the computer, like you do". She has seen my other drawings and knows the ones I publish here in hive, so she gave me the sketches above to digitize them.

I am going to show you the step by step. As you can see they are relatively simple sketches to make, but at least for me these drawings mean a lot.

I started by creating my workspace and making the first lines of the sketch. I used a thin brush for the body lines, but for the arms and legs I used a thicker brush.

The body has a conical shape, simulating a typical dress of a drawing that any child usually makes. The hair has a little more design, it seems to be a tousled hair with some strands over there. I did it just as she had drawn it.

Then I added a bow on the top, I imagine it must be an accessory similar to the one she uses because I have seen her with one like that, so I imagined the color of this accessory which you will see later. I also added the glasses and a big black dot in the center of the dress, as if it was the main button of this garment.

Below you can see the final result of the outline of the initial sketch. It was beautiful, an interesting drawing that could easily be the protagonist of a children's series.

I should clarify, that in the sketches there are several characters, although it doesn't seem so. So for this publication I also drew another character that, according to my perception, is the daughter or the younger sister of the older girl.

This girl doesn't have a ribbon, but something like a bun of hair on top and she doesn't have such long hair either, but two locks on the side that allow the ears to show. This is good in a way, because it allows two accessories that the other character didn't have, tendrils.

Below you can see the two characters ready, without coloring:

Now then... what colors to use? In my mind I imagined them with two colors immediately, green and purple. Why those colors? I don't know, they were the ones I pictured them with, so I painted them with those two, which make a nice contrast and serve to differentiate them.

I also imagined them blonde because of the hair style, so I painted them with a light color tone for the skin and light green for the dress, in the case of the tallest character, as you can see below:

In order for the drawing not to be a flat drawing, I painted the hair yellow and started adding shadows. They are not so noticeable but look at the three images side by side and you will clearly see the differences in the creative process.

In the first image you can see the hair painted in light yellow, a completely flat drawing; in the second image, the middle one, you can see the first layer of shadows, a mustard or yellow color a little darker; already in the third image, the one on the right, I added a little brown without much pressure, so that it would not damage the shading but would blend well with the rest of the drawing.

For the bow accessory that this character has, I looked at a bow that my cousin has, a fuchsia one that she has at home and doesn't use; in fact she doesn't really like to use these accessories but there it is.

I also painted the glasses, with the appropriate shadows on both the glasses and the bow. The idea is that, if I had added shadows on the hair, I should do it on the other accessories. So I also added shadows on the dress, to highlight a little more that conical shape of the dress, which I mentioned in the beginning.

This is how the first character was colored. If you notice, they are not so different; I would even dare to say that my cousin imagined the same character as a child and then as an adult, I don't know, when I give her the finished drawing I will ask her.

Anyway, I used the same coloring style for the smaller character.

The last thing for this drawing was to place the background and the respective shadows. I placed it on a purple background but lighter and with a brown floor, as if they were in a house.

Making this drawing, although it is simple, is very meaningful to me, because it is my cousin's first digitalized drawing and I am going to give it to her as a printed gift, so that she can keep it among her things.

El otro día estuve compartiendo con mi prima en casa de mi abuela, a ella le encanta dibujar y me dijo "Gabriel, vamos a dibujar".

A mi también me gusta el dibujo, como ya se habrán dado cuenta, así que me senté con ella en la mesa con lápiz, colores y papel. Entre todas las cosas que dibujamos, me llamó mucho la atención unos bocetos que hizo con bolígrafo.

Le pregunté qué personaje era y me dijo que los había inventado ella. La verdad no lo sé, nunca había visto un personaje así, pero sí me llamó mucho la atención todo el proceso que siguió para hacer estos personajes.

Fíjense que en algunos de los bocetos hace la forma de la cara, los ojos, la cruz para marca más o menos la altura en que deben ir los ojos o la nariz. Es muy interesante que a estas alturas haga todo eso, sin siquiera tomar clases ni nada.

Recuerdo que le mostré los dibujos a su mamá y a su papá y le encantaron. Les recomendé, de buena manera, que tomaran interés en inscribirla en clases de dibujo, pues es un talento que tiene y se debería aprovechar, ahora que está pequeña. Quien sabe, quizás en un futuro sea una gran dibujante.

Pues bien, después de dibujar, mi prima pequeña me dijo "Gabriel, puedes hacer estos dibujos en la computadora, como tu los haces". Ella ha visto mis otros dibujos y sabe los que publico aquí en hive, así que me entregó los bocetos de arriba para que los digitalizara.

Los voy a mostrar el paso a paso. Como ven son bocetos relativamente sencillos de hacer, pero al menos para mi significa mucho estos dibujos.

Comencé creando mi espacio de trabajo y haciendo las primeras líneas del boceto. Usé un pincel delgado para las líneas del cuerpo, pero para los brazos y piernas sí usé un pincel más grueso.

El cuerpo tiene una forma cónica, simulando un vestido típico de un dibujo de que suele hacer cualquier niño. El cabello si tiene un poco más de diseño, parece ser un cabello alborotado con algunos mechones por allí. Lo hice tal cual como ella lo había dibujado.

Posteriormente agregué un lazo en la parte de arriba, imagino que debe ser un accesorio parecido al que usa ella porque la he visto con uno así, por eso imaginé el color de este accesorio el cual verán más adelante. También agregué los anteojos y un gran punto negro en el centro del vestido, como si fuese el botón principal de esta prenda.

A continuación pueden ver el resultado final del delineado del boceto inicial. Quedó bello, un dibujo interesante que tranquilamente podría ser protagonista de alguna serie infantil.

Debo aclarar, que en los bocetos hay varios personajes, aunque no lo parezca. Así que para esta publicación también dibujé otro personaje que, según mi percepción, es la hija o la hermana menor de la chica más grande.

Esta niña no tiene un listón, sino algo como un moño de cabello en la parte superior y tampoco tiene el cabello tan largo, sino dos mechones a los lado que permiten que se vean las orejas. Esto en cierta forma es bueno, porque deja que se le coloquen dos accesorios que el otro personaje no tenía, zarcillos.

A continuación pueden ver a los dos personajes listos, sin colorear:

Ahora bien... ¿qué colores usar? En mi mente los imaginé con dos colores inmediatamente, verde y morado. ¿Por qué esos colores? No lo sé, fueron con los que las imaginé, así que las pinté con esos dos, que hacen un buen contraste y sirven para diferencialas.

También las imaginé rubias por el estilo de cabello, así que les pinté con un tono de color claro para la piel y el verde claro para el vestido, en el caso del personaje más alto, como puedes observar a continuación:

Para que el dibujo no fuese un dibujo plano, pinté el cabello de amarillo y comencé a agregar sombras. No son tan perceptibles pero fíjense en las tres imágenes una al lado de la otra y se verán claramente las diferencias en el proceso creativo.

En la primera imagen se ve el cabello pintado de amarillo claro, un dibujo completamente plano; en la segunda imagen, la del medio, se ve la primera capa de sombras, un color mostaza o amarillo un poco más oscuro; ya en la tercera imagen, la de la derecha, agregué un poco de marrón sin mucha presión, para que no dañase el sombreado sino que se mezclara bien con el resto del dibujo.

Para el accesorio del lazo que tiene este personaje, me fijé en un lazo que mi prima tiene, uno fucsia que tiene en su casa y no usa; de hecho no le gusta mucho usar estos accesorios pero ahí los tiene.

También le pinté los anteojos, con las debidas sombras tanto en este como en el lazo. La idea es que, si había agregado sombras en el cabello, en los demás accesorios debía hacerlo. Por ello también agregué sombras en el vestido, para resaltar un poco más esa forma cónica del vestido, la cual les mencioné en un principio.

Así quedó coloreado el primer personaje. Si se fijan, no son tan distintas; incluso, me atrevería a decir que mi prima imaginó al mismo personaje de niña y luego de adulta, no lo sé, cuando le entregue el dibujo finalizado le preguntaré.

Sea como sea, usé el mismo estilo de coloreado para el personaje más pequeño.

Lo último para este dibujo fue colocar el fondo y las respectivas sombras. Lo coloqué en un fondo morado pero más claro y con un piso marrón, como si estuviesen en una casa.

Hacer este dibujo, aunque es sencillo, es muy significativo para mi, porque es le primer dibujo digitalizado de mi prima y se lo pienso regalar impreso, para que lo guarde entre sus cosas.
