The other day I told you a little bit about my hens, specifically about one of the chicks I have, one named DD, yes, that's her name.

Well, that post I mentioned to you that DD was a little sick. The day after I made that post, I went to the vet and he recommended giving her some vitamins, because he saw the video I had taken of her (and basically the post above) and according to his criteria he thinks it was a hit from some rooster.

He prescribed me some vitamins and a special chicken feed with lots of vitamins as well.

El otro día les comenté un poco sobre mis gallinas, específicamente sobre una de las pollitas que tengo, una que se llama DD, sí, así se llama.

Pues bien, ese post les mencioné que DD estaba un poco enferma. Al día siguiente de hacer ese post, fui al veterinario y me recomendó darle unas vitaminas, porque vio el video que le había grabado (y básicamente el post que está arriba) y según su criterio cree que fue un golpe de algún gallo.

Me recetó unas vitaminas y un alimento especial para pollos con muchas vitaminas también.

Notice that this food is very similar to what is usually given to these animals, also to the pig. But I did feel it a little wet and oily, as if it had something else in it.

It is similar, but as the doctor said, it has other additional things for the benefit of the animals.

Fíjense que este alimento es muy parecido al que se le acostumbra a dar a estos animales, también al cerdo. Pero sí lo sentí un poco húmedo y aceitoso, coml si tuviera algo más.

Es parecido, pero como bien dijo el doctor, tiene otras cosas adicionales para beneficio de los animales.

On the other hand, I bought the vitamin specifically for the DD pullet, but all the hens will take it, because I serve it in the water they drink.

According to the vet's instructions, the amount of vitamin that corresponds to half the lid of the container should be dissolved in 1 liter of water.

Por otra parte, la vitamina la compré específicamente para la pollita DD, pero todas las gallinas tomarán, porque la sirvo en el agua que tosas toman.

Según indicaciones del veterinario la cantidad de vitamina que corresponde a la mitad de la tapa del recipiente, se debe disolver en 1 litro de agua.

So I did and left the water where the chickens usually are, but reserved some for DD, so she could take her vitamin and eat in peace.

Así lo hice y dejé el agua en el lugar donde las gallinas acostumbran a estar, pero reservé un poco para DD, para que pudiera tomar su vitamina y comer con tranquilidad.

Another problem I had seen in my hens was that they had red lice. I asked the vet and he told me that they are small ematophagous mites that affect only the birds and that it was very common in these, practically all of them had them.

I asked him if this was dangerous and he told me that it was, because by consuming the hens' blood they were prone to suffer from anemia if this problem was not corrected.

So I bought them a special medicine for this purpose.

Otro problema que había visto en mis gallinas es que tenian unos piojos de color rojo. Le pregunté al veterinario y me dijo que son pequeños ácaros ematófagos que afectan solo a las aves y que era muy comúnen estas, que prácticamente todas tenían.

Le pregunté si esto era peligroso y en efecto me dijo que sí, pues al consumir la sangre de las gallinas estas eran propensas a sufrir de anemia si no se corregía este problema.

Por eso les compré un medicamento especial para este propósito.

The mode of use is to dissolve it in water to give them as consumption, as well as to bathe them with this water.

The formula according to the sachet is 15 grams dissolved in 3 liters of water.

El modo de empleo es disolverlo en agua tanto para dárselos como consumo, como también para bañarlas con esta agua.

La formula según el propio sobre es de 15 gramos disueltos en 3 litros de agua.

I took the measure of 3 liters of water and poured it into a large plastic container, where the hens could fit comfortably.

I put a little aside to serve it later to the hens in their water container.

Tomé la medida de 3 litros de agua y vacié en un envase plástico grande, donde las gallinas cupieran con total comodidad.

Aclaro que aparté un poco para servirlo luego a las gallinas en su envase donde toman agua.

And so I started the whole process of bathing each hen. I say process because it certainly was a process, because I had to chase each hen and each chick to capture them and bathe them one by one.

I submerged them in the plastic container and bathed them in the water with the poison. The vet recommended me not to dry them, but to leave the water on them so that it would have an effect on the mites, so that's what I did.

Y así pues comencé todo el proceso del baño a cada gallina. Digo proceso porque ciertamente fue un proceso, pues tuve que perseguir a cada gallina y cada pollito para capturarlo y bañarlo uno por uno.

Los sumergí en el envase plastico y los bañé con el agua con el veneno. El veterinario me recomendó no secarlas, sino dejarles el agua encima para que esta surtiera efecto sivre los ácaros, así que eso hice.

After a while I managed to bathe the 16 hens I have. Waiting for this to start to take effect.

Anyway, the doctor told me it was something I should do regularly, so I guess it's something I will get into the habit of doing at least once a fortnight or once a month.

Después de un rato logré bañar a las 16 gallinas que tengo. En espera de que esto comience a hacer efecto.

De todas formas, el doctor me dijo que era algo que debía hacer regularmente, asinque supongo que es algo que me acostumbraré a hacer al menos una vez cada quince dias o una vez al mes.

Well friends, this has been all as for my publication, a personal post about the care of my beloved hens. I hope DD gets better soon and that these red mites that my pets have disappear.
