Practicando con botones [Esp/Eng]

(Below is the English version)

https://peakd.com/hive-173844/@hive-173844/nuevo-concurso-para-aprender-la-regla-de-los-tercios-los-tercios

English Version

Since I arrived at HIVE I have entered many contests, among these are those of this Rincón fotográfico community. Some of the proposed contests invited us to capture photographs complying with certain rules that, in my case, I did not know. Participating in these contests helped me to learn these techniques and put them into practice, or at least try to do so.

Today I will show you some of the techniques I learned and the photographs I took putting these rules into practice.

The first rule I came across in one of these contests is the odd-numbered rule. This rule consists of taking pictures of a group of three or more objects, as I remember and understand. It is a very entertaining rule because it is up to us to try to capture these three objects so that they are pleasing to the eye and allow comparisons between one and the others.

You can read more about this contest by following this link:
https://peakd.com/hive-173844/@monster-one/nuevo-concurso-fotografico-regla-de-los-impares-new-photo-contest-rule-of-odd-numbers

For this post, I focused on different sewing related objects, such as buttons, spools of thread and similar tidbits, hence the title of the post. So to comply with this odd number rule I used three spools of thread.

For this first picture I used a white background and I took it using the flash of my cell phone. I didn't like it very much, but I leave you the result:

1.png

For the other two pictures I used a black background and helped myself with a spotlight to improve the luminosity. I didn't use the flash and got two results that I liked better. Here are the two pictures:

2.png

3.png

Another rule that I learned and still do not master well, is the rule of thirds. As I understand it, to take these photographs you follow certain "imaginary" lines that the photograph has in order to place what you want to highlight in the photograph at the interceptions of these lines already mentioned.

You can read more about it by following this link:
https://peakd.com/hive-173844/@hive-173844/nuevo-concurso-para-aprender-la-regla-de-los-tercios-los-tercios

I helped myself with the guide lines provided by the application on my cell phone, something that made it easier for me to place what I wanted to highlight in the photograph in its place:

4.png

Here is an example of where are the points where the objects that we want to highlight in the photograph should be placed. As I understand.

5.PNG

Here is another picture I took trying to follow this rule, with some negative space in the lower right part of the picture:

6.png

Another very important aspect of photography that I put into practice in these contests was black and white.

If you would like to read more about this topic, you can do so by following this link:

Well, in my case for these photographs I used a white background and I used several of these white sewing objects to highlight them on this dark background. I didn't use flash, because I didn't like the result with flash, rather I used the light of a white spotlight to obtain the following result:

7.png

But since it is black and white, I edited the photograph so that the light-colored objects would be completely white on this completely black background:

8.png

The idea of this exercise is to improve in every aspect I have already worked on. I usually try to put these aspects into practice in the photographs I take, but it's not always easy; however, experience is gained by practicing, so I wanted to share with you this interesting and fun practice...

Well friends, that's all for now. I really liked the results, but you must remember that I am a learner in this area so I am open to your suggestions for further improvement.

I invite you to leave your opinions below in the comments. With nothing more to add, I'll say goodbye then...

See you next time!
