Lavos - An Expert in make my life IMPOSSIBLE

Videogames have many features that can dictate in one way or another how good it will be, usually, it is the story and especially the characters involved but if there is something that many great games share is that they have the particularity that not only their protagonists are memorable characters but even more so are their villains and the experience that we as players they give us.

In my case, I think that having a good boss or villain adds more robustness to the plot and makes the game can make you feel the story more genuinely, of course, it is something normal to do if the villain in question is given good dialogue, shocking appearances, a complete history of the same and most importantly that makes you cry tears of blood of how impossible he's to defeat, that's what defines a good villain.

Throughout my life as a gamer, the games I've had the opportunity to try have had many bosses or villains that not all of them I would have the audacity to say that they're good or not but some have come to impact me by the fact of how bad I liked them and above all how incredibly difficult they made me defeat them, specifically this one that as you may have seen in the title, yes, he was the expert in making my life impossible.

Lavos, the destroyer of the world.

As I could advance in my review of the game a few weeks ago, Chrono Trigger was undoubtedly one of the games that came to impact and mark me in my life as I felt that every time I played it the story was trapping me more and more to the point of feeling that the hours passed and I was still there, going from one era to another in search of Dreamstone to fix my magic sword or returning from the past to the present to talk to my mother.

This game without a doubt I love it and besides everything I already mentioned the bosses were awesome, I had many difficult fights with infinities like Masa & Muna, Heckran or the stupid prison dragon but without a doubt, the worst of them all was Lavos, a kind of giant robotic parasite with a horrifying aspect. He's the final boss of Chrono Trigger and which is the cause of all the mess that is lived in the world, we always hear about him as we advance but we never really see him and that is what is most intriguing as we move forward in the story.

First Lavo's form.

Every battle in CT is really hard and some bosses as I mentioned were annoying but Lavos is a rock in the shoe, this guy made things complicated and I remember that I died at least 10 times before I managed to do it. In the game there is a formation of characters that consists of a maximum of 3 to fight which I had to change all the time to see which one gave me the best result, being Lucca-Marle-Crono the lethal one.

Just have to be clear about something against Lavos, the level of your characters is never enough and neither are the times you will die. It has three forms, the first one is not complicated since you can heal yourself as long as you want (thank goodness, since we fought against several bosses before) and it doesn't hit much but it is also fascinating since this form imitates the bosses we face during the game, it doesn't have much life but it does have 14 attack forms that change as you lower its HP as possible you can. Once this disgusting form of Lavos is defeated it gives us room for a cave where we leave the practice and the good part begins, the other two forms..

Second Lavos form.

The battle begins, this form is perhaps the softest and the fact of calling it soft is comparing it concerning the following one, it is the friendliest way to see it and the one that causes less displeasure but it doesn't take away that it will make you get green hairs. Chrono Trigger is not a game of attacking and that's it, but how you distribute your attacks and to which part of the enemy is fundamental to defeat him, Lavos in its first form consists of three parts which have approximately about 15000 HP each.

Source ' s

In the beginning, I didn't know what to do, I attacked directly to the head and this caused my death on several occasions because, in addition to the rare laser attack which took practically half of the life of each character, he healed himself with his arms. If I learned anything from the battle against the stupid dragon is that any part that heals must be killed first with urgency and that's why that was my first target, and then the head.

In this form, the level of difficulty was not so much, but I remember that it was similar to the battle against Spekkio (training combat but one of the hardest) because of the high level of life that he had and the battle in the second phase of Lavos is certainly similar, there is not much science but the problem lies in the high HP that he has and how hard he hits, the life that you spend leaves you at a disadvantage for the next form which is a headache.

Third and final Lavos form.

Now comes the best or worst (?) part, this is the final form of Lavos and the most fucked up of all, it is similar to the first one but it has a very different particularity since it hits three times as much as the previous one and this time the arm that heals has three times the life that the previous form of Lavos had, besides it can revive any part that we kill, then the arm is the target to kill.

It's suicide as everything happens, the game itself is very long but I had never seen something like this that has cost me so much because it is exaggerated the HP level that they put and how much the attacks hit. I could easily die about 6 times every time I reached this phase because there is a critical that Lavos does that takes about 800 damage to the Crono, usually, when you reach Lavos you will have about 900-1000 HP so as you can see it is almost 85% of life in a single attack.

Source

The arm that is to our right is the boss as it operates everything that makes Lavos difficult, I remember at the time for more critical attacks, combo magics, Crono's sword hits it never died which caused me great anxiety. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see the life of this arm and according to the wiki it has 30000 HP, imagine that my most critical attack removed 1500, and healing and having the central body of Lavos hitting me was a mega difficult battle which after defeating him I felt like the lord and master of video games.

A difficult road but what comes next is the best.

Without a doubt, Lavos is my most difficult boss and the one that made me suffer the most, approximately to defeat him it took me about two days and I remember that whenever I got tired of dying, I would sleep, eat something, and then I would tell myself "Ok, now you'll get it out". The best thing behind that is the experience it gives me, that satisfaction is what makes me think that bosses are one of the best parts of video games because of the level of difficulty and the work involved in defeating them.

I remember with much affection those days of vice with Chrono Trigger, I wanted to pass it a second time but the game is really very long and I have only completed 40% in several days of play. It wasn't much for me at the time or at least I didn't see it that way but I'm sure it was because of all that wonderful adventure in which I was just waiting to see what boss I would face now. If you made it this far thank you very much and see you in the next one.
