Hola amantes del cine y la televisión en hive, hoy una vez más les comparto mi opinión sobre el octavo y penúltimo episodio de la serie basada en el videojuego, The Last Of Us y si aún no lo han visto pues los invito a hacerlo ya que hablaré con spoilers en este post. Hello movie and TV lovers in hive, today once again I share with you my opinion about the eighth and penultimate episode of the series based on the video game, The Last Of Us and if you haven't seen it yet then I invite you to do so as I will talk with spoilers in this post. Inicio/Beginning

Comenzamos el episodio teniendo dos perspectivas, por un lado tenemos a ellie quien está cuidando de Joel y al ver que ya no tenían comida decide ir a cazar y por el otro lado tenemos a David, un predicador quien está dando una charla a su comunidad y éste se detiene a consolar a una chica la cual ha perdido recientemente a su padre, luego descubrimos a su compañero James quien según David, ha perdido la fe. Ambos se preparan para ir a cazar sin saber con lo que se encontrarían en el camino. Empezamos el episodio en una fría locación, llena de nieve e incertidumbre, vemos a una Ellie preocupada por la vida de Joel y haciendo todo lo posible para evitar que muera, mientras tanto conocemos a este culto un poco extraño pero que al principio no demuestran nada sospechoso aún así nos queda mucho por ver en este tremendo episodio.

We start the episode having two perspectives, on one side we have Ellie who is taking care of Joel and seeing that they had no more food decides to go hunting and on the other side we have David, a preacher who is giving a talk to his community and he stops to comfort a girl who has recently lost her father, then we discover his partner James who according to David, has lost faith. They both prepare to go hunting not knowing what they would encounter along the way. We start the episode in a cold location, full of snow and uncertainty, we see an Ellie worried about Joel's life and doing everything possible to prevent him from dying, meanwhile we meet this cult a little strange but at first they do not show anything suspicious yet we have a lot to see in this tremendous episode.

El octavo episodio titulado "Cuando más necesitamos" se estrenó el domingo 5 de marzo a las 10 pm (Venezuela) tanto en los canales HBO cómo en su plataforma HBOMAX y cuenta con una duración de 50 minutos. Este episodio se centra principalmente en el encuentro y enfrentamiento con el líder de un grupo religioso que secuestra a ellie para tenerla de su lado sin embargo no son cualquier grupo, Ellie descubre que son caníbales y debe hacer lo que sea para escapar con vida.

En este episodio contamos con dos nuevos personajes, el actor Scott Shepherd se une a la serie interpretando al personaje de David y también contamos con el actor Troy Baker (quien interpretó a Joel Miller en el The Last Of Us el videojuego) interpretando a James, así como siempre contamos con nuestros protagonistas Pedro Pascal siendo Joel Miller y Bella Ramsey como Ellie.

The eighth episode titled "Cuando más necesitamos" (When we need it most) premiered on Sunday, March 5 at 10 pm (Venezuela) on both HBO channels and its platform HBOMAX and has a duration of 50 minutes. This episode focuses mainly on the encounter and confrontation with the leader of a religious group that kidnaps Ellie to get her on their side, however they are not just any group, Ellie discovers that they are cannibals and must do whatever it takes to escape alive.

In this episode we have two new characters, the actor Scott Shepherd joins the series playing the character of David and we also have the actor Troy Baker (who played Joel Miller in The Last Of Us the video game) playing James, as well as always we have our protagonists Pedro Pascal being Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

El episodio más temido por los jugadores del videojuego llegó, con 50 minutos de pura tensión e impotencia podemos, HBO nos demuestra de nuevo su calidad y ganas de hacer un trabajo bien hecho. Con dos nuevos personajes muy recordados, no de buena manera, por los jugadores y quiénes nos van a mostrar el otro lado de la pandemia, uno en donde la necesidad y el hambre superó la cordura y la moral.

Este episodio se remonta a una Ellie en necesidad de buscar comida para que Joel y ella puedan sobrevivir unos días más pero sobretodo deberá buscar un medicamento ya que Joel tiene una infección. En su camino a buscar comida para obtener fuerzas se topa con dos cazadores, uno llamado David y otro James, los cuales pretenden ayudarla buscándole la medicina que necesita pero luego de un discurso un tanto perturbador nos cuentan como ambos no se encontraron por casualidad y según David, todo pasa por una razón.

The most feared episode by the players of the video game has arrived, with 50 minutes of pure tension and helplessness we can, HBO shows us again its quality and desire to do a job well done. With two new characters very well remembered, not in a good way, by the players and who are going to show us the other side of the pandemic, one where need and hunger overcame sanity and morality.

This episode goes back to an Ellie in need of finding food so that she and Joel can survive a few more days, but above all, she will have to look for a medicine since Joel has an infection. On her way to look for food to get strength she runs into two hunters, one named David and the other James, who pretend to help her by looking for the medicine she needs but after a somewhat disturbing speech they tell us how the two did not meet by chance and according to David, everything happens for a reason.

Ellie vuelve junto a Joel y le inyecta la medicina y preocupada por lo que vendrá se duerme junto a Joel. Mientras tanto el grupo de cazadores vuelve con un venado en sus brazos y mientras cocinan algo de dudosa procedencia vemos como David informa que encontraron a la niña y al hombre loco que mató a uno de sus hombres y que se encargarán de ellos, éste quien parecía ser muy calmado y tranquilo para nuestro gusto golpea a la chica que perdió a su padre después de que ésta dijera que debían asesinarlos a ambos mostrando como incluso con su propio grupo reina el abuso de poder. Podemos ver al siguiente día que ellie se prepara para salir pero ve que los cazadores han vuelto pero ahora son muchos más y están buscándolos a Ella y a Joel, ellie decide advertir a Joel sobre lo que está ocurriendo a pesar de que éste aún esté algo adolorido, dejándole un cuchillo para que pueda protegerse mientras ella los desvía.

Fue un episodio sin duda lleno de muchísimas emociones, por un lado podemos ver como Joel aún está mal herido y no puede hacer absolutamente nada pero también vemos como Ellie intenta con toda sus fuerzas acabar con ésta gente que los busca para asesinarlos. Si creíamos que HBO no nos podría sorprender más vienen y sacan este capítulo el cual está tan bien elaborado, desde la forma de mostrar a un tipo totalmente calmado y aparentemente creyente el cual luego se transforma en un absoluto monstruo con sus planes para Ellie.

Ellie returns to Joel and injects him with the medicine and, worried about what is to come, falls asleep next to Joel. Meanwhile the group of hunters return with a deer in their arms and while they cook something of dubious provenance we see how David reports that they found the girl and the crazy man who killed one of their men and that they will take care of them, this one who seemed to be very calm and quiet for our taste hits the girl who lost her father after she said they should kill them both showing how even with his own group the abuse of power reigns. We can see the next day that ellie prepares to leave but sees that the hunters are back but now there are many more of them and they are looking for Ella and Joel, ellie decides to warn Joel about what is happening even though he is still a bit sore, leaving him a knife so he can protect himself while she deflects them.

It was an episode without a doubt full of many emotions, on the one hand we can see how Joel is still badly injured and can do absolutely nothing but we also see how Ellie tries with all her strength to end with these people who are looking for them to kill them. If we thought that HBO could not surprise us more they come and release this chapter which is so well elaborated, from the way of showing a totally calm and apparently believing guy who then transforms into an absolute monster with his plans for Ellie.

Con un desafortunado giro de la historia ellie pierde el control de su caballo y cae, los cazadores intentan matarla pero David lo evita diciendo que se definirá luego la gravedad de sus actos y se la lleva mientras que los otros cazadores buscan a Joel. Desde antes de que la atraparán podíamos ver que David no solo quería encontrarse con Ellie sino que tenía planes para ella dentro de la comunidad, al llevársela y encerrarla en una celda le cuenta un poco de su historia y como éste está rodeado siempre de ovejas y que desea tener a alguien como el.

HBO en su penúltimo episodio adapto uno de los momentos más crudos y más duros del videojuego, un momento que cambiará la vida de Ellie y que fue un punto importante para la relación de Joel y Ellie, quienes luego de este suceso fueron más unidos. El episodio logra aparentar una tranquilidad extraña durante el inicio, incomodandonos y haciéndonos sentir invadidos pero que luego podemos ver la verdadera cara del enemigo y en este caso, no es el cordyceps, sino la gente.

With an unfortunate twist in the story Ellie loses control of her horse and falls, the hunters try to kill her but David avoids it by saying that the seriousness of her actions will be defined later and takes her away while the other hunters look for Joel. From before she was caught we could see that David not only wanted to meet Ellie but that he had plans for her within the community, taking her away and locking her in a cell he tells her a bit of his story and how he is always surrounded by sheep and that he wishes he had someone like him.

HBO in its penultimate episode adapted one of the rawest and hardest moments of the video game, a moment that will change Ellie's life and that was an important point for Joel and Ellie's relationship, who after this event were closer. The episode manages to appear a strange tranquility during the beginning, making us uncomfortable and making us feel invaded but then we can see the true face of the enemy and in this case, it is not the cordyceps, but the people.

Volviendo a Joel podemos ver como acaba con uno de los cazadores con un poco de dificultad pero luego atrapa a dos más y los tortura hasta que estos dicen la ubicación de Ellie. Podemos ver como Pedro pascal está muy comprometido con su papel, mostrando una faceta más oscura de Joel y de sus límites a la hora de salvar a Ellie, al igual que el Joel del videojuego lo vemos siendo rudo y cruel incluso un poco condescendiente, mostrando que acabará con cualquier persona que se cruce en su camino.

Un episodio significativamente más sangriento que los anteriores nos mostraron como las creencias religiosas se convierten en una vil excusa para llevar a cabo actos de violencia grotesca, este grupo de creyentes mostraba su sumisión a través del miedo que les generaba David además de que jugaba con su fé para que estos no tuvieran más opción que estar ahí sin cuestionar las órdenes de su líder.

Returning to Joel we can see how he takes down one of the hunters with some difficulty but then catches two more and tortures them until they tell Ellie's location. We can see how Pedro Pascal is very committed to his role, showing a darker side of Joel and his limits when it comes to saving Ellie, just like the Joel from the video game we see him being rough and cruel even a bit condescending, showing that he will finish off anyone who crosses his path.

A significantly bloodier episode than the previous ones showed us how religious beliefs become a vile excuse to carry out acts of grotesque violence, this group of believers showed their submission through the fear that David generated in addition to playing with their faith so that they had no choice but to be there without questioning the orders of their leader.

Una ellie que descubre la verdad de este culto religioso debe reunir fuerzas para escapar, haciendole cree a David que ella estaba pensando sobre quedarse con ellos ésta le rompe el dedo y le dice que les cuente a su gente que Ellie es el nombre de la niña que le rompió el dedo a lo que David decide buscar a James para matar a Ellie, en un momento de desesperación podemos ver a Joel caminado entre la nieve para poder llegar a donde estaba ellie y entrando a un cobertizo se encuentra con una escena impactante, varios cuerpos colgando desmembrados y ahí se da cuenta de la gravedad de la situación. Antes de que puedan matarla Ellie revela que está infectada y que ahora David también lo está ya que ésta lo mordió, en un descuido de James éste termina siendo asesinado por Ellie mientras ella logra escapar, pero aún así no está libre de peligro ya que luego se tendrá que enfrentar por una última vez a David.

La serie y el videojuego nos dieron la oportunidad de ver la parte más agresiva del ser humano convirtiéndose en su peor enemigo y también ser testigos del lado más sangriento de Joel Miller. Mostrándonos a uno de los peores líderes existentes quien pretendía y vendía a sus seguidores la salvación y la prosperidad cuando ni siquiera buscaba las alternativas para evitar tener que matar y comer a seres humanos.

An Ellie who discovers the truth of this religious cult must gather strength to escape, making David believe that she was thinking about staying with them, she breaks his finger and tells him to tell his people that Ellie is the name of the girl who broke his finger, to which David decides to find James to kill Ellie, In a moment of desperation we can see Joel walking through the snow to get to where Ellie was and entering a shed he finds a shocking scene, several bodies hanging dismembered and there he realizes the seriousness of the situation. Before they can kill her Ellie reveals that she is infected and now David is also infected since she bit him, in an oversight of James he ends up being killed by Ellie while she manages to escape, but still is not free of danger because then he will have to face one last time to David.

The series and the video game gave us the opportunity to see the most aggressive part of the human being becoming his worst enemy and also to witness the bloodiest side of Joel Miller. Showing us one of the worst leaders in existence who pretended and sold his followers salvation and prosperity when he did not even look for alternatives to avoid having to kill and eat human beings.

En la pelea final podemos ver como David intenta hacer que Ellie caiga en su trampa, fingiendo falsa tranquilidad para hacer que ésta salga de su escondite, pero de un momento a otro ambos pelean hasta que éste la retiene, podemos ver el miedo, el terror y la rabia reflejados en el rostro de Ellie. Un final completamente desgarrador y triste, mostrando como Ellie antes de casi ser violada por David lo asesina de la forma más cruda posible, descargando su ira y dolor en el, una adaptación exacta al videojuego y podría decir que incluso más fuerte debido a que no estamos viendo personajes animados sino estamos viendo a personas reales, haciendo que remuevan muchísimo sentimientos dentro del espectador después de ésta escena.

Al lograr salir se consigue con Joel quien la abraza para tranquilizarla, al ver su estado Joel imagina lo peor y la calma llamándola por el apodo que le dijo a su hija antes de morir, una escena fuerte y emotiva que muestra una vez más la unión fuerte que se generó entre ambos y como ya Joel mira a ellie completamente como si ésta fuera su hija. Un final desgarrador y aunque yo ya sabía lo que venía simplemente no pude evitar sentir la rabia y las lágrimas salir con cada minuto que pasaba, sin duda HBO logro sacar sacar todos esos sentimientos a sus espectadores.

In the final fight we can see how David tries to make Ellie fall into his trap, pretending false tranquility to make her come out of hiding, but from one moment to another both fight until he retains her, we can see the fear, terror and rage reflected in Ellie's face. A completely heartbreaking and sad ending, showing how Ellie before almost being raped by David kills him in the crudest way possible, unloading her anger and pain on him, an exact adaptation to the video game and I could say that even stronger because we are not seeing animated characters but we are seeing real people, making them stir a lot of feelings inside the viewer after this scene.

When she manages to get out she meets Joel who hugs her to reassure her, seeing her state Joel imagines the worst and calms her by calling her by the nickname he said to his daughter before she died, a strong and emotional scene that shows once again the strong bond that was generated between them and how Joel looks at Ellie completely as if she were his daughter. A heartbreaking ending and even though I already knew what was coming I simply could not help but feel the rage and tears coming out with every passing minute, without a doubt HBO managed to bring out all those feelings in their viewers.
