Do You Still Use the 'Palnet' Tag on Your Posts?

I had a wake-up call a couple of days ago - or maybe it's over a week already - when I read in a news report (I think it was BRO's) something about the restructured reward distribution which happened on the Palnet tribe.

I admit I haven't been paying attention to what happened over there. But being an early tribe which supported general content, I kept including the tag, although I noticed for a while I received close to no PAL rewards for doing so. Now I have the explanation for that: author + curation rewards account for only 5% of the daily reward pool on Palnet.

The decision to update their whitepaper was communicated quite some time ago, in January 2021, through the @MinnowSupport account. Here it is:
https://peakd.com/hive-110490/@minnowsupport/pal-whitepaper-update

Over there we find this fragment:

Distribution:
Staking: 30%
Mining: 60%
PoMod: 5%
PoB: 5%

Curiously, all my PAL is staked, but probably my 2k PAL is so small by comparison with the whales on the platform that the stake rewards are close to nothing as well.

Anyway, looks like the Palnet tribe moved towards a high incentivization of the miners, with 60% of the reward pool. Stakers receive half of that, and the remaining 10% is split equally between the moderators and the proof-of-brain rewards (i.e. author and curators rewards). Obviously the focus will stop being on the latter.

In my case the changes don't seem to work out well. At least not right now. But it's true something needed to change, because Palnet was dying slowly, without any serious update since launch, if I'm not mistaken.

Will these changes and the move towards a predictive market (Neal McSpadden talked about it a couple of times) be the future of Palnet? Well, I guess we will see.

Did you know about these changes and do you still use the 'palnet' tag on your posts?

This is interesting. I haven't been paying too much attention to it honestly, life go a little bit crazy lately.

I've got almost 4k tokens staked and have checked, sometimes I'm getting around 2 PAL, sometimes not even 1, so ... I have no idea what's going on.

I only checked a few days of history for PAL rewards. Not sure how/when they are distributed for staking, but haven't received any during these few days if I didn't miss any entry.

And on the longer run, I believe it's been months since I received more than 1 PAL, by observations of tokens accumulated from day to day (or sometimes every other day) via leo-dex.

I wonder why they have even kept 5% for PoMod & 5% for PoB! Isn't it better to do away with the tribe altogether and save on server cost? Let it be 40% staking and 60% mining until it can find some more creative usecase 😊

Truth is this form of distribution which is now in place looks like a form of dropping the social media aspect, but not letting go. But without knowing more from within it's hard to say for sure.

I used the Palnet from the very beginning, and even made an invest at that time. Meanwhile this is not too lucrative, and I'm curious to see how it will go after the changes will be made.

I think they are already in effect for months now. Changes were announced at the end of January.

The truth is that I only used it because everyone else was using it, but I didn't really know what it was for, but seeing this I will keep using it.

What do you like most of the new distribution? Staking rewards? Miners rewards?

I am ware of these changes before they implemented, I want to have 10K PAL but do not want to pay exorbitant prices.

If you are wondering about 10K PAL, I want to run an Oracle Node there.

Yes, I was aware of the 10k PAL threshold. I heard Neal talk about the predictive market/oracles a couple of times. I wasn't aware about the change in distribution of rewards, but that was kind of obvious by the quite radical change in the received rewards. I just didn't dig into it, since PAL slowly faded away from my area of interest. And I probably wouldn't have read, if it didn't caught my eye in a news report.
