The duck persistently tried to swallow the acorn

I was walking in the park and suddenly I saw a duck in the foliage. It is worth noting that I did not notice right away. The plumage of the duck merges in color with the autumn foliage. I saw movement in the distance. And only when I came close, I realized that it was a duck. Here's a good fall disguise for ducks. The park is located on a steep bank. To get a duck into the park, you need to fly high. Perhaps it was no coincidence that the duck flew so far from the river. Probably, acorns are common food for ducks. But for the first time I saw a duck trying to swallow an acorn. If jays, jackdaws, rooks, magpies peck acorns, then it is problematic for ducks. They do not have such a sharp beak to easily cope with acorns. But this duck tried hard to do it. She cannot peck because of the shape of her beak, she found another way out - to swallow an acorn.

The duck did not manage to swallow the acorn right away. The first attempt failed and several others failed. The acorn slipped out of its beak back onto the foliage.

The photo clearly shows that the acorn seems to be hanging in the air. He just fell out of the beak of the duck and I managed to capture this moment on the camera.

But she again picked up the acorn from the ground, but again she could not swallow it. The acorn fell out of its beak again.

It seems that all the photos are very similar to each other. But they are different. The duck saw food nearby in the foliage where it was sitting. The duck tried to swallow the acorn while sitting. It fell out of its beak next to her. And so several times. The duck did not move until several attempts were successful. I came across such a lazy bird. The duck didn't even want to get up while eating. Therefore, the photographs are similar, the duck was in almost the same position. Only periodically I picked up an acorn that fell out of its beak in order to swallow it again. Perhaps I am mistaken, it was more convenient to just lie down and in vain I thought that the duck was lazy. But I've never seen ducks eat acorns before.

Finally, the duck swallowed the acorn and immediately looked pleased. I achieved success and is glad. Apparently, she already paid attention to me and quickly flew away.
