When a lion has been through so much in its life, it acquires scars that are reflected not only in its body, but also in its eyes. In a way, this lion is more experienced than many in the pride, but he prefers to go unnoticed and stalk when no one expects him. He is brave, strong and swift, despite his inoffensive appearance. His ferocity is unquestionable and the oldest members of his clan can attest to that.

In short: He is the king of the jungle.

Cuando un león ha pasado por tanto en su vida, adquiere cicatrices que no solo se reflejan en su cuerpo, sino en su mirada. De cierto modo, este león tiene más experiencia que muchos dentro de la manada, pero prefiere pasar desapercibido y acechar cuando nadie lo espera. Es valiente, fuerte y veloz, a pesar de su apariencia inofensiva. Su ferocidad es incuestionable y de eso pueden dar pruebas los miembros más antiguos de su clan.

En pocas palabras: Es el rey de la selva.

Creation process

It all started with a geometric figure: the ellipse. Using this Adobe Illustrator tool, I formed three identical figures and placed them consecutively to then unify them and create the piece you see in the photo with four different colors. Believe me, the ellipses were the basis of this drawing. All the shapes you see are created with it. I then proceeded to create the head and shape what would be this structure. There was a lot of editing and here I will omit many steps but I am attaching the most important.

Todo comenzó con una figura geométrica: La elipse. Utlizando esta herramienta de Adobe Illustrator, formé tres figuras idénticas y las coloqué consecutivamente para luego unificarlas y crear la pieza que ven en la foto con cuatro colores diferentes. Créanme que las elipses fueron la base de este dibujo. Todas las formas que ven son creadas con ella. Luego procedí a crear la cabeza y a dar forma a lo que sería esta estructura. Hubo muuuucha edición y aquí omitiré muchos pasos pero adjunto lo más importante.

At this point I spent a lot of time retouching the dimensions of the jaw, as well as the whiskers and the size of the nose. Also the hair took me a lot of work to organize but finally I placed more or less symmetrically the waves that made up the hair of this lion (which still did not look like a scalp, but a bathing cap, so a third layer of hairs was missing!)

For this I copied the same initial shape and created a kind of circle. See in the next image how the shape came out of the initial piece and how many models I had to make, although there were many more by trial and error.

En este punto me demoré bastante retocando las dimensiones de la mandíbula, así como de los bigotes y el tamaño de la nariz. También el pelo me costó mucho trabajo de organizar pero finalmente coloqué más o nemos simétrico las olas que conformaban la cabellera de este león (que aún no parecía una cabellera, sino un gorro de bañarse, por lo que faltaba una tercera capa de pelos!)

Para ello copié la misma forma inicial y creé una especie de circulo. Vean en la próxima imagen cómo de la pieza del principio salió la forma y cuántos modelos tuve que hacer, aunque fueron muchos más a base de prueba y error.

The color selection was made thanks to the free website coolors.co, which offers a series of palettes and you can import them to your work table. This work took me about two hours and I recognize that it could have been better, but I enjoyed the process I shared with my friend @cpol, @meraxes and @janetedita, who advised me on what direction to take to make a better lion.

La selección de colores fue gracias a la página gratuita coolors.co, la cual ofrece una serie de paletas y puedes importarlas a tu mesa de trabajo. Este trabajo me tomó alrededor de dos horas y reconozco que podía haber quedado mejor, pero disfruté bastante el proceso que compartí con mi amigo @cpol, @meraxes y @janetedita, quienes me asesoraban y aconsejaban de qué rumbo tomar para hacer un mejor león.
