The first flowering of my sansevierias 🌸

Hello plant lovers friends. On the balconies of my house we have many plants because we love them. Some bloom and others don't, so today I want to show you the blooming of one of them, one that in all the time I have had it I've never seen it bloom, what's more, I didn't even know it bloomed hahaha.

Hola amigos amantes de las plantas. En los balcones de mi casa tenemos muchas plantas porque nos encantan. Algunas florecen y otras no, así que hoy les quiero mostrar el florecimiento de una de ellas, una que en todo el tiempo que la he tenido nunca la había visto florecer, es más, ni siquiera sabía que florecía jajaja.

This plant is called Sansevieria (Sansevieria trifasciata) but in my country it is known as Mother-in-law's tongue or Sword of Bolívar. It's native to West Africa and is part of the semi-succulent plants, its leaves are lance-shaped, grow erect and are rigid.

Esta planta se llama Sansevieria (Sansevieria trifasciata) pero en mi país se le conoce como Lengua de suegra o Espada de Bolívar. Es originaria del oeste de África y forma parte de las plantas semisuculentas, sus hojas tienen forma de lanza, crecen de manera erecta y son rígidas.

The day I saw these little sprouts on my sansevierias I was very excited / El día que vi estos pequeños brotes en mis sansevierias me emocioné mucho

When they gave it to me it was small and had only three leaves, I planted it and little by little more and more children were born around it so I had to change the pot twice, its roots are short so it doesn't need a deep but rather wide container to give space to the children that will be coming out.

Cuando me la regalaron era pequeña y tenía unas tres hojas nada más, yo la sembré y poco a poco le fueron naciendo más y más hijos a su alrededor así que la tuve que cambiar dos veces de maceta, sus raíces son cortas así que no necesita un recipiente profundo sino más bien ancho para darle espacio a los hijos que irán saliendo.

In the pot where I have it now, which is actually a large bottle cut in half, there are nine large plants and about five that are sprouting, all the large ones have flowered, something that has never happened before.

En la maceta donde la tengo ahora, que en realidad es una botella grande cortada por la mitad, hay nueve plantas grandes y unas cinco que están brotando, todas las grandes florecieron, algo que nunca había ocurrido antes.

The stems were about 20-25 cm tall / Los tallos tenían unos 20-25 Cms de alto

These flowers give off a rich aroma similar to that of jasmine and what caught my attention is that the smell intensifies at dusk / Estas flores desprenden un rico aroma parecido al del jazmín y lo que me llamó la atención es que el olor se intensifica al anochecer

From what I've researched, this plant also bears fruit so I'll be watching to show you that process if it happens with my Sansevieria plants.

Según lo que investigué, esta planta también da frutos así que estaré pendiente de mostrarles ese proceso si llega a ocurrir con mis plantas de Sansevieria.

NASA has thoroughly studied the Sansevieria and has described it as a great air purifier, it's capable of eliminating toxic compounds such as formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, trichlorethylene and xylene, so it's very useful and healthy to have it in our spaces, both outside and inside our home as well as at work (factories, offices, shops, restaurants, etc.).

La NASA ha estudiado a fondo a la Sansevieria y la ha calificado como una gran purificadora del aire, es capaz de eliminar compuestos tóxicos como formaldehído, benzeno, tolueno, tricloroetileno y xileno, así que es muy útil y saludable tenerla en nuestros espacios, tanto afuera y adentro de nuestro hogar como en el trabajo (fábricas, oficinas, tiendas, restaurantes, etc.).

This plant is slightly toxic to dogs and cats and can cause some gastrointestinal discomfort if they ingest it / Esta planta es ligeramente tóxica para perros y gatos y les puede generar algunas molestias gastrointestinales si la ingieren

The hummingbirds loved these flowers, every day they came to suck the nectar, too bad I couldn't photograph any of them ☹️ / A los colibríes les encantaron estas flores, todos los días se acercaban a chupar el néctar, lástima que no logré fotografiar a ninguno ☹️

The entire flowering process lasted almost a month and a half / El proceso completo de la floración duró casi mes y medio
