Todas las mañanas me visitan los canarios 🐥 / Every morning the canaries visit me 🐥

Saludos amantes de las aves! Vivir en el cuarto piso en un edificio rodeado de algunos árboles te ayuda a recibir la visita de muchas aves. Si bien no todas se sientan en nuestro balcón, algunas de ellas lo hacen muy cerca y eso me permite de vez en cuando poder fotografiarlas.

Greetings bird lovers! Living on the fourth floor in a building surrounded by some trees helps you receive the visit of many birds. Although not all of them sit on our balcony, some of them sit very close and that allows me from time to time to photograph them.

Una de esas aves son los canarios (Sicalis flaveola), aquí en Venezuela se les suele llamar canarios de tejado y arroceros, también se les conoce como canario silvestre, jilguero dorado, chirigüe azafranado, pinzón azafranado, etc. son unos pajaritos muy simpáticos y graciosos que le alegran el día a cualquiera con sus hermosos y vivaces colores amarillos, aunque son un poco tímidos y se acercan con cautela, una vez que se acostumbran a que uno los alimente, agarran confianza jajaja.

One of those birds are the canaries (Sicalis flaveola), here in Venezuela they are usually called roof and rice canaries, they are also known as wild canary, golden goldfinch, saffron finch, etc. They are very nice and graceful little birds that brighten anyone's day with their beautiful and lively yellow colours, although they're a bit shy and approach cautiously, once they get used to being fed, they gain confidence hahaha.

Esta especie de canario está distribuida en casi toda sudamérica, se alimentan de semillas y brotes que consiguen en el suelo aunque también pueden incluir insectos en su dieta.

This species of canary is distributed throughout almost all of South America, they feed on seeds and shoots that they find on the ground, although they can also eat insects.

El apartamento del piso de abajo tiene cerrado el balcón con rejas y techo y tanto a los canarios como a otras aves les encanta sentarse ahí a descansar o a protegerse del sol y la lluvia. Cuando amanece y ven que me asomo al balcón suben hasta el tejado del apartamento de abajo porque siempre les echo masa de arepa y migajas de pan así que vienen a comer junto a otras aves pequeñas como las tortolitas chocolateras (Columbina talpacoti), las palomitas maraquitas (Columbina squammata), los cristofué o pecho amarillo (Philohydor lictor) y los azulejos (Thraupis episcopus).

The apartment of the third floor has the balcony closed with bars and a roof and both canaries and other birds love to sit there to rest or protect themselves from the sun and rain. When dawn comes and they see me leaning out on the balcony, they go up to the roof of the apartment below because I always add arepa dough and breadcrumbs to them, so they come to eat together with other small birds such as chocolate turtle doves (Columbina talpacoti), maraquita dove (Columbina squammata), the cristofué or yellow chest (Philohydor lictor) and the bluebirds (Thraupis episcopus).

Casi siempre andan en grupos de dos, tres o cuatro, en esos grupos por lo general son uno o dos machos y el doble de hembras, y tienen un canto muy agradable. Los machos tienen una mancha de color naranja intenso sobre sus cabezas y sus plumas son de amarillo intenso, las hembras son menos llamativas, su color es más oscuro y tienen algunas rayas sobre sus alas.

They almost always reunite in groups of two, three or four, in those groups there are usually one or two males and twice as many females, and they have a very pleasant song. The males have a bright orange spot on their heads and their feathers are bright yellow, the females are less conspicuous, their color is darker and they have some stripes on their wings.

Es muy agradable recibir todos los días la visita de estas simpáticas aves y ver como interactúan entre ellas, la mayoría de las veces están felices cantando y volando pero hay días donde pareciera que están discutiendo por algún motivo, bueno, supongo que cualquiera puede tener un mal día jajaja 🤷🏻‍♀️. It's very nice to receive the visit of these lovely birds every day and see how they interact with each other, most of the time they are happy singing and flying but there are days where they seem to be arguing for some reason, well, I think anyone can have a bad day hahaha 🤷🏻‍♀️.
