Saludos hivers, bienvenidos a mi blog y a mi primera publicación en esta comunidad. Desde la antigüedad, los tatuajes han estado presentes en muchas culturas y han sido utilizados con diferentes motivos, ya sea para mostrar algún tipo de estatus dentro de la sociedad, para identificarse con alguna tribu o grupo, para honrar a los ancestros o para llevarlos como amuleto.

Hello hivers, welcome to my blog and my first post in this community. Since ancient times, tattoos have been present in many cultures and have been used for different reasons, whether to show some type of status within society, to identify with a tribe or group, to honor ancestors or to have them as amulet.

El sábado pasado asistí a una exhibición de tatuajes que se hizo en La Victoria, es la primera vez que se realiza un evento de este tipo en la ciudad y en el mismo estuvieron presentes 27 tatuadores del estado Aragua, cinco de ellos eran mujeres 💪🏻, algo que me sorprendió gratamente puesto que en otra exhibición a la que fui hace unos años atrás en Caracas (la capital), y la cual fue un evento internacional con tatuadores de muchos países, no había ni una sola mujer así que es bueno ver que cada día más mujeres se están destacando en este mundo del tatuaje.

Last Saturday I attended a tattoo exhibition that was held in La Victoria, it's the first time that an event of this type has been held in the city and 27 tattoo artists from the state of Aragua were present, five of them were women 💪🏻, something which pleasantly surprised me since in another exhibition that I went to a few years ago in Caracas (the capital), and which was an international event with tattoo artists from many countries, there wasn't any woman so it's good to see that each day more women are standing out in this world of tattooing.

El evento empezaba a las 10 de la mañana, yo iba a ir a esa hora pero tuve que hacer otras cosas y al final llegué después del mediodía. Como en Venezuela la impuntualidad es tan común la exhibición empezó a las 11:30 así que no me perdí de mucho jajaja 🤷🏻‍♀️.

The event was planned to start at 10 AM, I was going to go at that time but I had to do other things and in the end I arrived after noon. Since tardiness is so common in Venezuela, the exhibition started at 11:30 so I didn't miss much hahaha 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Cuando llegué escuché que alguien gritaba mi nombre y me saludaba muy efusivamente desde lejos moviendo sus brazos, era Gabriel, un amigo que si llegó temprano jajaja, y fue él quien me dijo que no empezó a la hora. Al acercarme al anfiteatro de la escuela, lugar escogido para esta exhibición, se escuchaba buena música rock 🤘🏻. Entré y empecé a dar mi primera vuelta por los puestos de tatuajes.

When I arrived I heard someone shout my name and greet me very warmly from afar, waving his arms. It was Gabriel, a friend who did arrive early hahaha, and it was he who told me that it didn't start on time. As I approached the school amphitheater, the place chosen for this exhibition, good rock music could be heard 🤘🏻. I went in and started doing my first lap around the tattoo stalls.

La mayoría de las personas que se tatúan en este tipo de exposiciones han sido contactadas por los mismos tatuadores de manera directa o a través de sus redes sociales para que les sirvan de modelos, ellos reciben un tatuaje gratis y los artistas aprovechan para mostrar su arte.

The majority of people who get tattooed in these types of exhibitions have been contacted by the tattoo artists themselves directly or through their social networks to serve as models, they receive a free tattoo and the artists take the opportunity to show his/her art.

Antes de empezar a tatuar, el artista imprime el diseño en un papel especial que luego pega al área del cuerpo que será tatuada, esta es una guía, el resto (calidad del delineado, sombreado, coloración, etc), lo hará el talento del tatuador así que no es tan fácil como pueda aparentar 😉 / Before starting to tattoo, the artist prints the design on a special paper that then sticks to the area of the body that will be tattooed, this is a guide, the rest (quality of the outlining, shading, coloring, etc.) will be done by the talent of the tattoo artist so it's not as easy as it may seem 😉

La historia de los tatuajes es tan extensa como interesante y si les gusta el tema realmente vale la pena indagar más a fondo. El descubrimiento más antiguo del tatuaje pertenece a Ötzi, la momia congelada de un hombre que fue hallada en los Alpes en 1991, en su cuerpo encontraron 61 tatuajes, esta momia tiene 5000 años de antigüedad. Personalmente siempre me han llamado la atención los tatuajes, si bien hasta ahora no tengo ninguno, me gustaría hacerme uno, aunque como soy tan exigente creo que eso no será muy pronto jajaja.

The history of tattoos is as extensive as it's interesting and if you like the subject it's really worth investigating further. The oldest tattoo discovery belongs to Ötzi, the frozen mummy of a man that was found in the Alps in 1991, 61 tattoos were found on his body. This mummy is 5,000 years old. Personally, tattoos have always caught my attention, although until now I don't have any, I would like to get one, but since I am so demanding I think that won't be very soon hahaha.

Mientras recorría el lugar, el DJ había cambiado el género de la música y ahora sonaba buen reggae ✌🏻☮️ intercalado con el sonido de las máquinas de tatuar y las dispersas conversaciones, pude notar que la mayoría de la gente optaba por estar en silencio viendo cómo los tatuaban, mientras que otros preferían distraerse con el celular, siempre y cuando el lugar de su tatuaje se los permitiese.

As I walked around the place, the DJ had changed the genre of music and now he was playing good reggae ✌🏻☮️ interspersed with the sound of the tattoo machines and the scattered conversations, I could notice that most people chose to be silent watching how they were tattooed, while others preferred to be distracted by their cell phone, as long as the location of their tattoo allowed it.

El uso de guantes es obligatorio. La higiene es primordial y es un punto de vital importancia a tomar en cuenta al momento de hacerse un tatuaje y así evitar el contagio de virus, bacterias y enfermedades / The use of gloves is mandatory. Hygiene is essential and is a vitally important point to take into account when getting a tattoo and thus avoid the spread of viruses, bacteria and diseases

Según me han contado personas que tienen tatuajes, el dolor implícito en este trabajo artístico corporal depende de muchos factores como son el área del cuerpo escogida, el estilo del tatuaje, o sea, si tiene mucho delineado, relleno, sombras, etc., el tamaño del diseño, no es lo mismo tatuarse un conejito de 5 cms que toda la espalda 🤷🏻‍♀️, la mano del artista y por supuesto, el umbral del dolor de cada persona ya que hay gente muy resistente al dolor y gente que al primer pinchazo salen corriendo 😬🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Sin embargo, la mayoría coincide que al cabo de un rato el área se queda como dormida, como si estuviese anestesiada, y la sensación de dolor desaparece o se reduce notablemente.

According to what people who have tattoos have told me, the pain implicit in this body artistic work depends on many factors such as the area of the body chosen, the style of the tattoo, that is, if it has a lot of outline, filling, shadows, etc., the size of the design, tattooing a 5 cm bunny isn't the same as tattooing the entire back 🤷🏻‍♀️, the hand of the artist and of course, the pain threshold of each person since there are people who are very resistant to pain and people that with the first puncture they run away 😬🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. However, most agree that after a while the area falls asleep, as if it were anesthetized, and the sensation of pain disappears or is noticeably reduced.

Mientras me acercaba a cada puesto para ver y tomar fotos me encontré con Jesús, otro amigo que me había dicho que probablemente también iría a la exhibición. Nos pusimos a hablar y le comenté que una de las cosas que más me sorprende es que la mayoría de las veces no sale sangre durante el proceso del tatuaje, mi amigo me dijo que es porque la aguja sólo penetra la parte más superficial de la piel.

As I approached each stand to see and take photos I ran into Jesús, another friend who had told me he would probably also go to the exhibition. We started talking and I told him that one of the things that surprises me the most is that most of the time no blood comes out during the tattoo process, my friend told me that it's because the needle only penetrates the most superficial part of the skin.

Si bien la mayoría de los tatuajes se hacen en unas pocas horas, hay otros que necesitan de varias sesiones, ya sea por lo complejo del diseño, por el tamaño, o porque hay que dejar sanar ciertas áreas para continuar o también porque la persona que se está tatuando no aguanta más el dolor 🥴😬🤭🤷🏻‍♀️.

Although most tattoos are done in a few hours, there are others that require several sessions, either due to the complexity of the design, the size, or because certain areas must be allowed to heal to continue or also because the person getting the tattooing can't take the pain anymore 🥴😬🤭🤷🏻‍♀️.

Confieso que me gusta mucho el mundo del tatuaje, quizás más para verlo que para tatuarme yo jajaja, antes pasaban varios programas de TV de tatuadores, yo disfrutaba viendo L.A. Ink, Miami Ink y el programa de Kat von Dee, era interesante ver como de artistas del tatuaje muchas veces se convertían en psicólogos y consejeros de sus clientes porque detrás de la mayoría de los tatuajes había historias tristes y trágicas, otras que eran esperanzadoras y también había historias inspiradoras y de finales felices.

I confess that I really like the world of tattoos, perhaps more to see it than to get tattooed myself hahaha, some years ago there were several TV shows about tattoo artists, I enjoyed watching L.A. Ink, Miami Ink and the Kat von Dee show, it was interesting to see how tattoo artists often became psychologists and counselors for their clients because behind most of the tattoos there were sad and tragic stories, others that were hopeful and there were also inspiring stories and happy endings.

Dicen que cuando te haces un tatuaje seguramente te harás otro jajaja y por lo que ví en la exhibición es cierto, la mayoría tenían más de un tatuaje 🤷🏻‍♀️. Actualmente en La Victoria hay varios estudios donde puedes ir a hacerte un tatuaje, antes no era tan común, hace unos años tuve la oportunidad de conocer a uno de los tatuadores más conocidos de la ciudad y de estar en su estudio y ver su portafolio mientras tatuaba a un amigo, de hecho cuando me vió me dijo: "me dijeron que quieres hacerte un tatuaje", a lo que yo le respondí: "sí, quiero hacerme uno pero no será hoy" 😬🤭😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️.

They say that when you get a tattoo you will surely get another one hahaha and from what I saw at the exhibition it's true, most of them had more than one tattoo 🤷🏻‍♀️. Currently in La Victoria there are several studios where you can go to get a tattoo, years ago it wasn't so common, a few years ago I had the opportunity to meet one of the best-known tattoo artists in the city and to be in his studio and see his portfolio while he was tattooing a friend, in fact when he saw me he told me: "they told me you want to get a tattoo", to which I replied: "yes, I want to get one but it won't be today" 😬🤭😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️.

Las agujas son de un sólo uso (desechables) y deben estar selladas en su paquete, nunca acepten hacerse un tatuaje con agujas usadas. El trabajo de Leo, el tatuador del que les hablé, me encantó, tanto su portafolio como el tatuaje de un pez Koi que le ví hacerle a mi amigo y que cubría parte del pecho, la clavícula y el hombro, quedó espectacular, aunque lo terminó en varias sesiones porque mi amigo ya no aguantaba más 🥴😬😂😂, y eso que tiene un montón de tatuajes en todo el cuerpo 🤷🏻‍♀️, es que esa zona es bastante delicada, sobretodo el hueso de la clavícula. Sin duda me hubiese hecho mi primer tatuaje con él pero lo dejé pasar y él ahora está en Filipinas tatuando 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣😕.

I loved the work of Leo, the tattoo artist I told you about, both his portfolio and the tattoo of a Koi fish that I saw him do on my friend and that covered part of his chest, collarbone and shoulder, it was spectacular, although he ended in several sessions because my friend couldn't take the pain anymore 🥴😬😂😂, and he has a lot of tattoos all over his body 🤷🏻‍♀️, that area is quite delicate, especially the clavicle bone. I definitely would have gotten my first tattoo with him but I let it go and he is now tattooing in the Philippines 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣😕.

Entre las cosas que estuve conversando con mi amigo Jesús, me dijo que esto de viajar es muy común entre los tatuadores ya que lo hacen para conocer nuevas técnicas, aprender de otros colegas y también porque los invitan a exposiciones internacionales, lo cual es una excelente vitrina para mostrar su trabajo artístico. Él sabe mucho sobre este tema porque tiene un sobrino que es un tatuador bastante reconocido y ha participado en muchas exposiciones de tatuajes, actualmente está en Panamá.

Among the things I was talking about with my friend Jesús, he told me that traveling is very common among tattoo artists since they do it to know new techniques, learn from other colleagues and also because they are invited to international exhibitions, which is an excellent showcase to display their artistic work. He knows a lot about this topic because he has a nephew who is a well-known tattoo artist and has participated in many tattoo exhibitions, he is currently in Panama.

Si bien hay muchos artistas del tatuaje, hay tatuadores excelentes, buenos, regulares y también los hay malos, por lo que es importante indagar bien en su portafolio. Otra de las cosas importantes es buscar tatuadores que dominen el estilo de tatuaje que queremos hacernos, si bien un tatuador de primera domina casi todas las técnicas y estilos, por lo general siempre hay especialistas, sobretodo cuando se trata de los estilos más complicados como el hiperrealista.

While there are many tattoo artists, there are excellent, good, average tattoo artists and there are also bad ones. When you want to get a tattoo, it's important to do a good job of researching their portfolio. Another important thing is to look for tattoo artists who master the style of tattoo we want to get. Although a top tattoo artist masters almost all the techniques and styles, generally there are always specialists, especially when it comes to the most complicated styles such as hyperrealism.

En el mundo del tatuaje hay muchos estilos, entre ellos: realista e hiperrealista (retratos de personas y animales), 3D, japonés tradicional o irezumi, biomecánico, puntillismo, tribal, old school (tatuajes clásicos con motivos marineros y pin up), blancos, geométricos, geek, kawaii, blackout y blackwork (están hechos sólo con tinta negra), minimalista, new school, acuarela, neo tradicional, etc.

Un tatuaje de calidad y con el resultado perfecto dependerá de saber elegir al artista que domine el estilo del tatuaje que queremos hacernos, en especial en los casos de tatuajes hiperrealistas que son los de mayor complejidad y requieren de un dominio total de parte del artista de las habilidades de dibujo y del manejo adecuado de la aguja.

No sé si es porque soy muy exigente y crítica al momento de evaluar las cosas 🙈🙊😬 pero la verdad es que he visto muchísimos tatuajes y son pocos los que podría decir que son casi perfectos y que quedaron espectaculares, ya que independientemente de que su diseño me guste o no, soy muy objetiva para apreciar un buen trabajo artístico.

I don't know if it's because I'm very demanding and critical when evaluating things 🙈🙊😬 but the truth is that I have seen many tattoos and there are few that I could say are almost perfect and that they turned out spectacular, since regardless of whether I like its design or not, I'm very objective when it comes to appreciating good artistic work.

Había varias personas que se estaban tapando o cubriendo tatuajes viejos que quizás ya no les gustaban o habían quedado feos o mal hechos. Esto es algo muy común ya que nuestros gustos pueden cambiar y nosostros también y un tatuaje que nos hicimos a los 16 años, puede que ya no nos parezca tan cool como en esa época e incluso puede que hasta nos parezca ridículo tenerlo ahora jajaja, he visto muchos casos así de tatuajes hechos en momentos de locura, enamoramiento o rebeldía 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣.

There were several people who were covering up old tattoos that perhaps they no longer liked or that had become ugly or poorly done. This is something very common since our tastes can change and so can we, and a tattoo that we got at the age of 16 may no longer seem as cool to us as it did at that time and we may even find it ridiculous to have it now hahaha, I have seen many cases like this of tattoos made in moments of madness, infatuation or rebellion 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣.

Este tatuaje hecho por una joven tatuadora en la pierna de un chica estaba quedando realmente hermoso, no pregunté si lo iba a colorear, de haber sido así me gustaría haberlo visto terminado 🦊 / This tattoo done by a young female tattoo artist on a girl's leg was really beautiful, I didn't ask if she was going to color it, if so I would like to have seen it finished 🦊

Era la 1 de la tarde y estaba haciendo mucho calor, aunque el anfiteatro de esta escuela es amplio y tiene espacios de ventilación en el techo, no posee aire acondicionado y los ventiladores que estaban en cada puesto no ayudaban mucho ni a los tatuadores ni a sus clientes jajaja, mi amigo Jesús y yo nos salimos un rato y nos pusimos a conversar. Tanto los artistas como sus modelos se tomaban descansos de vez en cuando para tomar un poco de aire fresco y estirar el cuerpo.

It was 1 in the afternoon and it was very hot, although the amphitheater of this school is large and has ventilation spaces in the roof, it doesn't have air conditioning and the fans that were in each stand didn't help much either for the tattoo artists or for their models hahaha, my friend Jesús and I went out for a while and started talking. Both the artists and their models took breaks from time to time to get some fresh air and stretch their bodies.

A este señor nunca le pude ver la cara jajaja, estaba realmente concentrado, o quizás sólo trataba de soportar estoicamente el dolor 🥴😬 jajaja / I could never see this man's face hahaha, he was really focused, or maybe he was just trying to stoically endure the pain 🥴😬 hahaha

Por otro lado, este hombre estaba de lo más relajado y como si nada revisando su celular / On the other hand, this man was very relaxed and checking his cell phone as if nothing was happening

Después de pasar una hora afuera conversando, entré nuevamente para ver el progreso de los tatuajes, algunos ya estaban terminados y otros iban a la mitad. A excepción de tres o cuatro personas que tenían caras de no estar muy a gusto con el dolor, la mayoría estaban muy calmados y relajados mientras las agujas iban dibujando sus pieles. Después de las 2 de la tarde fue llegando más gente, no sólo a ver sino también para tatuarse.

After spending an hour outside talking, I went back inside to see the progress of the tattoos, some were already finished and others were halfway done. Except for three or four people who looked like they were not very comfortable with the pain, most of them were very calm and relaxed while the needles were drawing their skin. After 2 in the afternoon more people arrived, not only to see but also to get tattooed.

En el evento estaban incluidas exhibiciones de skateboard, freestyle y hip hop, seguramente para el cierre en la tarde o noche. Poco después de las 3 me fui a mi casa. Fue un día diferente y me gustó mucho ver que en el estado Aragua haya tanto talento emergente en el arte del tatuaje, creo que eso fomenta la sana competencia y con ella las ganas de aprender cada día más, especializarse y lograr la excelencia.

The event included skateboard, freestyle and hip hop exhibitions, probably for the closing in the afternoon or evening. Shortly after 3 I went home. It was a different day and I really liked to see that in the state of Aragua there is so much emerging talent in the art of tattooing, I think that encourages healthy competition and with it the desire to learn more every day, specialize and achieve excellence.

Los tatuajes son obras de arte permanentes sobre el lienzo de la piel, es por eso que debemos buscar a los mejores si queremos llevar con orgullo y satisfacción un hermoso tatuaje en nuestro cuerpo y no uno del cual estemos arrepentidos jajaja. Y por favor, nunca se tatúen el nombre de un novio, una novia, del esposo o la esposa, de verdad, no lo hagan jajaja, es mejor que se tatúen el nombre del perro o del gato, por lo menos esa relación será de por vida jejeje.

Tattoos are permanent works of art on the canvas of the skin, that is why we must look for the best if we want to have with pride and satisfaction a beautiful tattoo on our body and not one that we regret hahaha. And please, never get the name of a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife tattooed, really, don't do it hahaha, it's better to get the name of your dog or cat tattooed, at least that relationship will be for ever hehehe.
