Is the Earth 6,000 Years Old?
Scientists say the Earth is somewhere around 4,000 million years old, people who rely on the Bible say it is 6,000 years old? Now that is a huge difference, and nobody really knows what is the truth. I just want you to know something about me, I believe that somewhere there is a creator, I also happen to very much doubt any of the religious books that are so abundant actually are revelations from this creator. So i actually don't believe in the 6,000 year old theory, but I also don't trust scientists that much, so maybe the Earth is actually 1,500 million years old, nobody can prove that isn't the real number.
But my problem is with the 6,000 year old number. Now let's just think for a while, we have this incredible being, creator of all things. He is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, infallible and a lot of etceteras. Now here is what really gets me. This being has been around forever, I mean this being does not have a beginning or end. Yet this being, during all eternity, up until 6,000 years ago decided it would be a good idea to get rid of the chaos it was living in and create the earth and as the finishing of this creation create man.
And man would be created in his image, this also kind of confuses me, we are talking about a spiritual being, it doesn't have an image and in case it does it can have any image it wants. But back to my rant, this being has been through eons and it only occurred to this being to create Earth and all it holds 6,000 years ago.
Does this mean, and this is the only idea that I can come up with, that this being has probably created an unlimited number of Earths that have come and gone, as we will? This is a hard one to swallow because it would just mean we are not special at all. No chosen people, no Godly religion, just a test probably to see what happens.
Now I really don't think this has happened, I think Earth evolved into what it is now through eons of time, if there is a creator I really don't think It is too interested in us, we just go our way and in the end we go back where we came from. And having discussions about things like how old the Earth is lead us knowhere, I think we are just to full of ourselves and think we are special, I seriously doubt that.
I suspect we're living in some sort of simulation, perhaps one of many. I find it difficult to believe in a benign creator. I mean what kind of being would design a world in which people are born disabled, suffer disease and pain, grow old, and often die in agony? A world where we must pay just to exist, survive by hunting or farming other sentient creatures, and are forever at the mercy of nature?
One thing I can tell you, whatever you think is the truth is just as possible as what I or anyone else thinks it is.
You're right there! Everyone thinks that they have the answer with their jesus, allah or primordial soup, but the truth is none of us knows anything at all.
