Hola amigos de @lifestyle💙. Un placer publicar por aquí. Hoy quería contarles acerca de la preparación que tengo que hacer previo a un taller de lettering.

Hello @lifestyle💙 friends. A pleasure to post over here. Today I wanted to tell you about the preparation I have to do prior to a lettering workshop.

Para quienes no lo saben, tengo un emprendimiento llamado Poeticabyg, que inició siendo una tienda de arte online, pero que con el paso del tiempo ahora ofrecemos talleres de lettering tanto para grandes como para chicos.

For those who don't know, I have a business called Poeticabyg, which started as an online art store, but over time we now offer lettering workshops for both adults and children.

Me gusta organizar todo con tiempo. En este caso, tengo semanas de preparación para el sábado 27, donde tendría lugar la “Lettering Party”. Me encanta la idea de hacer talleres temáticos. Para mí no es que vayan solo a aprender lettering, sino que además tengan una experiencia distinta. Entonces, en la “Lettering party” aprendes lettering además de que disfrutas de una fiesta de cumpleaños. Les incluyo un cotillón, sorpresas y hago hasta rifas. Es muy divertido.

I like to organize everything in advance. In this case, I have weeks of preparation for Saturday the 27th, where the "Lettering Party" will take place. I love the idea of having themed workshops. For me it's not just that they go to learn lettering, but also that they have a different experience. So, at the "Lettering Party" you learn lettering in addition to enjoying a birthday party. I include a cotillion, surprises and even raffles. It's a lot of fun.

En esta ocasión me quise reinventar con el cotillón. Hice unas especie de fichas de Jenga para que además de que fueran cotillones, también jugaramos jenga para hacer una dinamica rompe hielo. Mi mamá @janeco68 me recordó que cuando era pequeña nos había comprando un Jenga de la marca de cartas UNO. Así que agregue parte de esa temática: puse algunos con el símbolo de cambia turno y otros con el de pierde turno.

This time I wanted to reinvent myself with the cotillion. I made some Jenga tokens so that in addition to being cotillions, we could also play Jenga to make an icebreaker dynamic. My mom @janeco68 reminded me that when she was little she had bought us a Jenga from the UNO brand of cards. So I added part of that theme: I put some with the shift symbol and some with the lose symbol.

Decore las cajitas del jenga con distintos doodles. Cada caja era única, porque los diseños eran al azar. Me encargue de rellenarlos con su marcador, lápiz y goma. Los organice en una caja para que viajaran protegidos hasta la actividad.

I decorated the jenga boxes with different doodles. Each box was unique, because the designs were random. I took care of filling them in with their marker, pencil and eraser. I organized them in a box so that they would travel protected to the activity.

En días anteriores, había decorado los sobres de la actividad con frases positivas en lettering. Me gusta que cada sobre tenga una frase única que reconforte a la persona que lo va a recibir. La noche anterior incluí las hojas con las que trabajariamos para tener los sobres ya listos.

In previous days, I had decorated the activity envelopes with positive phrases in lettering. I like each envelope to have a unique phrase that comforts the person who will receive it. The night before, I included the sheets we would be working with to have the envelopes ready.

El sábado en la mañana tocó terminar de organizar los bolsos. Normalmente empiezo a ubicar todo en la mesa y voy guardando todo. Tenía que llevarme mi cartel de bienvenida. Lo hice con el estilo chalk lettering, pero usando pintura acrílica para que dure más. Este lo colocó fuera del local para dar una bienvenida a los participantes del taller.

Saturday morning it was time to finish organizing the bags. Normally I start placing everything on the table and put everything away. I had to take my welcome sign with me. I did it in chalk lettering style, but using acrylic paint to make it last longer. This one I placed outside the venue to welcome the workshop participants.

Guarde en una caja organizadora todos los marcadores que se usan en la actividad. Me encanta usar los crayola supertips, tengo alrededor de 150 marcadores. También guarde mi “P” de Poética que es lampara. Es parte de la decoración de la mesa.

Keep all the markers used in the activity in an organizer box. I love using crayola supertips, I have about 150 markers. I also kept my "P" for Poetics which is a lamp. It is part of the table decoration.

Tengo una serie de folletos donde coloco ejemplos de decoraciones, doodles, banners y banderines, esto con el fin de ayudar a que los participantes se inspiren a la hora de trabajar. También lleve otros ejemplos de como partir de un boceto a un arte final. Intento siempre tener material de apoyo para poder guiar a los participantes.

I have a series of brochures where I put examples of decorations, doodles, banners and pennants, this in order to help the participants to be inspired when working. I also bring other examples of how to go from a sketch to a final artwork. I always try to have support material to guide the participants.

Volví a verificar los sobres y el contenido de los mismos. Metí uno extra por si se presentaba una persona a última hora. También metí hojas extras por si alguien necesitaba alguna más. Hilo porque lo necesitaba para colgar mi cartel de bienvenida, cinta adhesiva porque uno nunca sabe cuando va a necesitarla. Cartuchera con todo lo que se me ocurriera, porque uno no sabe, prefiero estar preparada.

I rechecked the envelopes and the contents of the envelopes. I put in an extra one in case a person showed up at the last minute. I also tucked in extra sheets in case anyone needed any more. Twine because I needed it to hang my welcome sign, tape because you never know when you're going to need it. Pencil case with everything I could think of, because you never know, I prefer to be prepared.

Silicone, tijera, pega en barra, sacapuntas y regla son cosas que no pueden faltar en mi bolso. Prefiero estar preparada y llevar extras que después estar corriendo porque me faltan cosas. Así que eso muchas veces se traduce en demasiado equipaje extra.

Silicone, scissors, glue stick, pencil sharpener and ruler are must-haves in my bag. I'd rather be prepared and carry extras than run around because I'm missing things. So that often translates into too much extra luggage.

Marcadores especiales para detalles; ya sean de micropuntas de distintos tamaños, lapiceros de gel dorado, blanco y plateado. Son elementos importantes para hacer detalles, luces y sombras en el lettering, así que son parte importante de los trabajos finales de los participantes.

Special markers for details; either micro-tips of different sizes, gold, white and silver gel pens. These are important elements to make details, lights and shadows in the lettering, so they are an important part of the final works of the participants.

Mi agenda. El sitio donde van mis notas, desde la información de los participantes, pagos que tengo que hacer, temario del taller, todo lo que tengo que tener presente y no debo olvidar. Un lapicero pilot frixion (perfecto, porque se borra con friccion) y un resaltador sharpie s-note verde limón, dos complementos importantes para mis anotaciones.

My agenda. The place where my notes go, from the participants' information, payments I have to make, workshop agenda, everything I have to keep in mind and not to forget. A pilot frixion pen (perfect, because it erases with friction) and a sharpie s-note lime green highlighter, two important complements for my notes.

Me toco guardar en cajas las tazas donde pongo los marcadores. Son de cerámica asi que intento que vayan muy bien guardadas para que lleguen a salvo a su destino. Tengo algunas cajas recicladas para este motivo.

I have to keep the cups in boxes where I put the markers. They are made of ceramic so I try to keep them very well stored so that they arrive safely to their destination. I have some recycled boxes for this purpose.

Una vez que llegamos a Urban (que es un café en mi ciudad, donde realizamos el taller), toca organizar todo antes de que lleguen los participantes. Mi mamá @janeco68 es mi caballito de batalla, mi apoyo y la que me acompaña en estas travesías, así que me ayuda a que todo quede hermoso (y a cargar las cosas también jaja)

Once we get to Urban (which is a cafe in my city, where we do the workshop), it's time to organize everything before the participants arrive. My mom @janeco68 is my workhorse, my support and the one who accompanies me on these journeys, so she helps me to make everything beautiful (and to carry things too haha).

Terminamos de rellenar las sorpresas con suspiros para empezar a armar lo que seria la torre de jenga.

We finished filling the surprises with sighs to start assembling what would be the jenga tower.

Empezamos a arreglar la mesa de trabajo. Primero las tazas, donde irían todos los marcadores que se usaran en la actividad. Posicionamos la lámpara de P y empezamos a ubicar la torre de jenga.

We started to arrange the work table. First the cups, where all the markers to be used in the activity would go. We positioned the P lamp and started to place the jenga tower.

Colocamos los sobres con las hojas de trabajo. Me gusta colocarlos boca a abajo para que los sobres sean elegidos al azar. La cara de sorpresa de los participantes al voltear el sobre es mágica. Muchos me han dicho que la frase que les ha tocado les ha ayudado a sentirse mejor.

We place the envelopes with the worksheets. I like to place them face down so that the envelopes are chosen at random. The look of surprise on the participants' faces when they turn the envelope over is magical. Many have told me that the phrase they got has helped them feel better.

Mesa lista, solo faltan los participantes. Mis nervios empiezan a acumularse y la emoción es palpable. Logro grabar, tomar algunas fotos y me siento a esperar.
