Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is What Doesn't Kill You.

What Doesn't Kill You

In a What Doesn't Kill You ruleset, All units gain the Enrage ability. Units that have Enrage ability will multiplies their speed and melee attack by 1.5x rounded up if their health is damaged.

Note that the melee attack multiplier will only affect melee units. Units which attack are ranged or magic will only gain from the speed multiplier.

Lets take a look at a Wild Silver ranked match with What Doesn't Kill You as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Silenced Summoner and What Doesn't Kill You with a max mana of only 13. Only Water and Dragon splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Xia Seachan2SummonerAs Silenced Summoner was one of the ruleset, I went for the lowest mana summoner I can find in my arsenal and Xia Seachan is what I can find. It is only a 2 mana summoner and is perfect for this battle.
Djinn Oshannus81stReason I went with Djinn Oshannus as my tank was because of its speed. At 5 speed Djinn Oshannus is one of the fastest unit you can find in the silver league. On top of that it has Phase which means it can dodge magic attack as well. Now in a What Doesn't Kill You ruleset, it will gain Enrage. An enraged Djinn Oshannus would have a total speed of 8! Most units will have a hard time hitting a 8 speed Djinn Oshannus.
Crustacean King32ndIn case of my Djinn Oshannus getting hit, I still had my Crustacean King to heal it. My Crustacean King was vulnerable to sneak units though.
Total Mana:13

Opponent Lineup:

My opponent went with a Dragon splinter with Quix the Devious as the summoner. The strongest unit in my opponent lineup is Djinn Chwala. An enraged Djinn Chwala would have 3 speed and a massive 5 melee attack. Getting hit by it would be painful. But at 8 mana, Djinn Chwala is not cheap to summon. My opponent couldn't add in any sneak unit due to using Djinn Chwala so my healer is safe!

End of Round 1:

My opponent was smart to put a cannon fodder before the Djinn Chwala as it absorb my first attack and then allow the Djinn Chwala to quickly hit back at me. Unfortunately for my opponent, my 5-speed Djinn Oshannus dodged that melee attack.

End of Round 2:

The start of 2nd round saw my Djinn Oshannus hitting my opponent Djinn Chwala for 2 magic damage. This attack enraged my opponent Djinn Chwala giving it now 3 speed and 5 melee attack! The Djinn Chwala then hit back at my Oshannus hitting it for 5 damage. Now my Oshannus speed is at 8! My healer then followed up with a heal that pushed back my Oshannus' health to 9.

End of Round 3:

Round 3 saw my opponent's Djinn Chwala missing its attack on my Oshannus. With a speed difference of 5, the opponent Chwala had only a 50% chance of hitting my Oshannus. However following up with another heal from my Crustacean King, my Oshannus had gained back its full health and is now no longer enraged. Thus its speed fell back to just 5 again.

End of Round 4:

With my Oshannus speed back to just 5, it got hit again by my opponent's Chwala. But because of that, Oshannus speed was back to 8 again.

End of Round 5:

Once again my opponent's Chwala couldn't hit my 8 speed Oshannus as my Oshannus got healed back to full health again.

End of Round 7:

The fight ended in round 7 with my team fully intact.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use my Djinn Oshannus to dodge and hold the first position while supported by a healer. Strategy did work well although I was worried of facing a sneak lineup.

Another strategy I thought of using was to put a Martyr unit in front of Oshannus to get it to tank and gave extra stats boost to my Oshannus. That could possibly work as well.

SUMMARY
Using a high speed unit with a good health point is very essential in a What Doesn't Kill you ruleset. An enraged fast unit would becomes much fast and much harder to be hit.

However do note that when your unit is fully healed back to normal health, you will lose the enraged speed and melee multiplier until your unit get its health damaged again.
