Depression is real but death is not the way out.

Depression is real, there are lots of people trapped in it, some were able to come out of it and it led to the death of some people as well.

I have been willing to write about this for some days now and I have to stop procrastinating about it after seeing a movie titled "DETACHMENT", there are a lot of people going through a lot in life. Depression is a complicated feeling, I usually thought poverty or lack of something we desire for much were the reasons behind it until I saw wealthy people take their lives out of depression.

It is not something people just find themselves in at once, the feeling piles up until it reaches a point where they get broken.

Every human has this inner battle they are taking care of and it differs, the weight is different and at times, it can be overwhelming. Many people reached a bending point in life and that path broke them because they couldn't bend enough, it is a different story if we are all being asked about our lives and this is enough reason for us to be kind to people as much as possible.

A woman who happens to be someone who inspires other women was invited to a TV program, she was interviewed and she said a lot. In the end, she said she was depressed and struggling with her mental health because she lost some of her siblings and her daughter died as well..

About 2 weeks after this woman died, I didn't think of anything else that day. I have always known depression was no joke and seeing it spread among people scares me a lot..

You could be playing a part in it.

A lot of people are directly or indirectly adding to the pain of people going through a state of depression and that's one of the reasons why the world must erase the idea of every man for himself way of living, we are all meant to look after each other. This isn't about giving people things, looking after each other is beyond giving.

I have lived in an environment where people tried committing and even committed suicide, a particular man close to his fifties said he felt neglected at the time he needed his family most. He lost his job for over six years and couldn't get back on his feet, somehow his wife became the breadwinner and she became a different person.

On an afternoon, he got a powerful insecticide and drank it. His child went into his room at that moment, he raised an alarm, and people rush him to the hospital. He lived for days after much work but eventually died.

A teenager also did the same thing, her mother remarried someone else and she didn't care about her child. The little girl tried talking about it but the mother was too harsh with her and while trying to get her mother's attention, she committed suicide and left a note that she just wants to know if her mom loves her.

She was a teenager and I was hurt listening to the story many years ago.

Many of us are selfish and terrible humans, we are happy when we are satisfied even though the people around us are lacking, people deprive pleasure by mocking, body shaming, and making life so difficult for others.

A single statement can make another human life look worthless and there are times I ask if people have to say some things or take some action that makes other people's life look miserable.

You can't see through people, you don't know what going on in their minds, you don't know what's running in their heads and you keep dishing out shit that makes them feel completely irrelevant in the world.

Are you a boss at work who makes life miserable for your staff? or you are a landlord who makes life very uncomfortable for your tenants, I think it is time to start checking our ways because you don't know what your fellow human is going through, a lot is going on in the head of many people out there.

To everyone going through a state of depression.

Death is not the way out of depression way, if you don't think of the pain you will cause the people around you, think about the afterlife. Why would you need to go through a lot in both lives when you can work on yourself?

Depression isn't a state we fall into at once, it is a gradual drowning in that state until we are stuck and I think it is avoidable if we are willing to.

It must be avoided as much as possible naturally because I discovered a lot of people get trapped while trying to avoid it, drug or alcohol is not an escape route and it will only worsen one's condition.

Instead of trying to handle things yourself, pray to God, talk to people who will understand and inspire you, read good books, pay attention to your physical and mental health, engage in good activities that will help you overcome it, and above all always make yourself happy.

I have never had reasons to take my life because I know it would only attract suffering but I have had a troubled heart, I have been through situations that made me doubt if I was born with any purpose. Through these difficult times, I have some music I do listen to because they have a huge impact on me mentally and spiritually.

These songs speak of hope but it requires you to have faith and work towards changing your life for good.

Because he lives by Celtic Worship.

This song makes me cry because he touches my heart even when I am not sad, only one person can see us through the challenges of the world and he is the Almighty God.

I remember when a friend's father was ill, I recommended the song to them not because it will heal but because it gives you the assurance that as long as you are in Christ, you have happiness here and in the afterlife.

God will make a way by Don Meon

A lot of people are familiar with Don Meon, his songs are messages to the world and we just need to believe in God as we push through our challenges In life.

** It's Okay** by Nightbirde

Ever since I heard this song, it gave me a different perspective on life. We are all going through one thing or the other and it isn't the end of life for us because we can still turn the situation of things around for us, Nightbirde is late but this song will be remembered for a long time.

We can't have a perfect life as humans, we will definitely go through challenges which is okay and we just need to always find our way through them.

The worst thing about depression is that it is not easily identified, you can hardly tell if a person is depressed or not unless they voice it out. This is why it's very important we mind the way we treated people, someone that's deep into depression can easily be pushed over the edge by words which you might think is harmless at that point

You are right buddy, a lot of people pretend to be happy whereas, they are not. We just need to be careful with how we treat people to prevent hurting them more.

They are indeed great songs I don't hesitate to listen to once I am feeling down about life situations, we must hold on to Christ promises for us.

This is definitely a sensitive topic but I like that your message included death doesn’t have to be the answer.

For further reference you can post things like this in the Mental Health Community.

The OCD Community is for general topic
posts that do not fit in any of the other communities.

Oh, thanks for the information. I didn't know there was a community for mental health, I am sorry for that; I had no intention of breaking the community rules.

That bending an analogy is a great one and we really don't know what is going on behind someone's eyes. They eyes might be smiling, but they may be a mask to hide some other disquiet deep within a person. You just never know, so as you say the thing to do is just be a sound, kind and compassionate person to everyone you meet.

Thanks for the three tunes and your excellent and insightful post this week.
