Integrating A New Layer Of Security.

When the name Hive comes to mind, it brings this genuine smile to my face and I always have a lot to say about the blockchain that has brought people together and changed lives across the globe. Hive has given me more than I can ask from a social platform and it opened my eyes to the endless possibilities plus opportunities on Web3.

When I saw the first prompt for this week, I had to think critically because Hive is perfect compared to many platforms that pretend to be decentralised whereas they aren't. I have always said that there are lots of intelligent people on the blockchain who are always thinking of possible ways to make Hive improve in all ramifications and they are doing a superb job. Talk about the Hive (UI) User interface, the blockchain speed and scalability, transaction fee, decentralisation, community governance, security and many others, they are all running smoothly for me.

If PERFECT was a social platform, it would definitely be HIVE and regardless, there are a few upgrades that can take things to a whole different level for members of the platform.

During my early days on Hive, I had a few things I really wanted to see on the platform and I felt like these things would boost the activity and growth of Hive. Without discussing any of it with anyone, these things happened on Hive which tells how much effort developers on Hive are working hard to implement important features on different frontend.

One of them was the Peakd chat option which gives members the privilege to chat on the blockchain. Although a lot of us are used to Discord chat but it makes a lot of sense to me when I can just buzz a fellow Hiver without having to log into Discord. There are different upgrades I have seen from different frontend in the last two years since I joined Hive and they have all made things quite easier for us one way or the other.

In addition to all of these, I believe there are still upgrades that can happen on Hive. Upon seeing the prompt, what came to my mind was the possibility of using not only Hive keys for account security on the blockchain. It might sound somehow but I think it will be cool if a Biometric security system can be adopted on the blockchain in addition to the Hive keys.

As we all know, we have human body parts that are unique and over the years, we have seen the uniqueness of these parts being integrated into the upgrades of both physical and software security systems. Examples are the use of Face unlock and fingerprint to unlock our phones, initiate transactions and many others. I can tell that almost every one of us uses these features on our devices because they make things easier.

The use of Biometrics is quite faster and it wouldn't be a bad idea if adopted by different frontend of the Hive ecosystem. For instance, being logged out of the Hive-related apps is one thing many of us encounter often and I find it stressful to always copy my keys or lazy to input my password but with the help of the Biometric security system, copying of keys always wouldn't be necessary.

The Hive keys wouldn't be useless after all, they can be required for logging into Hive on a new device, when doing some high-level transactions or settings on our accounts. The use of Biometrics wouldn't be compulsory and it's just like having another login option on the blockchain just like we have Hivesigner, Keychain and others.

The Biometric option would make logging in quicker and we wouldn't even need to be throwing our keys out there for different purposes all the time. Since our fingerprints are unique, I don't think people's Hive accounts will be exposed to any threat.

There are challenges with biometrics as well which is why the Hive Keys will always remain relevant and I believe that Biometric security system adoption will definitely boost the level of security on Hive members account; it would serve as an additional layer of security.

Thanks for reading.

The use of biometrics will not be a bad idea in any way, but there hive engine is already using it which is nice.

Your suggestion is nice and valid

Thanks for sharing your view

Really? Biometric on Hive, it's the first time I am seeing this. Probably you can tell me more about it, thanks for the visit.

Hahaha yes sometimes i also feel awkward to giving key's everytime I login, it should be log in on our finger print with a simple touch ad you said our finger print are also unique 😉

I am glad you are using things from my perspective, adopting a biometric security system will make login quite easy for us.

Yes it's an easy way to get login on our device 😀

This is indeed a nice upgrade that when adopted will improve the security and it becomes so easy for the users. Even when your phone got stolen, the thief wouldn't acces Ur hive account since it's not their finger print or eye, or whatever security implemented. I love this about hive and I hope this biometric security will be given a close attention

Your are right, biometrics keep everyone except you out of your account. Since it's unique, we don't have to worry about getting hacked.

I hope it's considered really, it will be a huge addition for Hivers.

Wow! That's an excellent one boss, adding biometric as part of security will make sense. It will make logging and other transactions much easier and faster.

Yeah bro, it would make a lot of sense since it would make our account security stronger.

With biometrics you prevent your Hive passwords from being used by unauthorized persons, it is also convenient because you don't need to remember it or have to have one, and it is a fraud resistant method.

It's highly resistant to fraud and it would go a long way in helping Hivers secure their accounts more.

Add a biometrics feature will definitely be a game changer for hive and makes things a lot easier. It's always stressful for me to always go copy my keys from where I saved them whenever the need arises meanwhile using something like fingerprint would have made things a lot easier

I think we share the same thoughts about how stressful it can be to copy the hive keys every time our favourite Hive frontend kicks us out. With the biometric system, it would be faster and since no one shares the same biometrics with me, I have less fear about getting hacked.

I love this idea bro and I hope someday it would be implemented, that's very true, we don't just have to use our keys to access our accounts, we also have unique body parts

Yeah bro, our hive keys wouldn't be needed always for transactions, logins and others. I hope the biometric system is considered in the future.

The biometric security system would be very good in my opinion for making things faster and easier and in case of transactions both hive keys and biometric keys should be required at the same time. So that even if one steel one's key won't be able to steal money from an account. It's an impressive idea.

Yes bro, adding the biometric system can help take stronger security measures on our account and it would be very rare before account hacking and other errors happen.

omoor I don't really buy the biometrics, but it is possible. Hive keychain app does have biometrics added to it when you try to open the app. It uses my face to unlock, but I would have to put in my lock pass as well.
