Mystery and Secret...

Since George made friends at the coffee shop close to his house, he fell in love with having his morning coffee outdoor.

He was out as usual when his phone started beeping and he didn't check since it wasn't a call. George was a few blocks away from the coffee shop and just thought that he would check the phone when he got there.

"Good morning, Andrew." He greeted one of the waiters as he walked in and that drew everyone's attention to him.

" Always on time George, Good morning to you. Hope you had a great night?" Andrew replied.

"Sure I did, I bet you did too."

George smiled and went to the barista's spot but Mark wasn't there.

"Hey Andrew, where is Mark?" George asked.

"He just got in, remember today is his birthday. Don't worry, I am preparing you a cup already" He replied from the other side of the counter.

"Oh, that's true," George muttered as he quickly removed his phone from his pocket.

He scrolled through his notification and found out that the beeping was the birthday reminder.

George had the intention of getting Mark a birthday gift on his way to the coffee shop and he would have remembered if he checked his phone when it was beeping but he didn't.

"I will be back, Andrew."

George hurried out of the coffee shop and was confused about where to go immediately after he got outside.

He remembered the gift shop close by and rushed there but they hadn't opened yet. Without wasting time, he brought out his phone to see the nearest gift shop on Google Maps.

George found an antique shop on the map not far away from his location so he decided to get Mark something related to coffee from there.

"This was easy to find," George muttered as he entered the shop.

"Hello, is anyone here?" George asked several times but there was nobody in the shop. He went on checking different items displayed in the shop, he was there for some minutes hoping someone would eventually attend to him but no one did.

"What kind of person opens a shop and doesn't watch over it?" George grumbled as he walked out of the shop.

George muttered words as he checked his phone again for another gift shop where he eventually got a T-shirt for Mark.

He returned to the coffee shop and was excited to see Mark already at his spot with a birthday cap on his head.

"Good morning man, Happy birthday to you," George said as he handed over the gift pack to Mark.

"Thanks a lot, I appreciate you," Mark replied sharply.

"Andrew was brewing a cup of coffee for me earlier, please help me ask if it's still available," George told Mark who summoned Andrew immediately.

"This customer said you were brewing a coffee earlier for him..." Mark said to Andrew who took another glance at George before replying.

Meanwhile, George wondered why Mark called him "This customer" but didn't say anything.

"Yes, I was brewing coffee really but for George, I am just seeing you here for the first time."

George couldn't help but laugh as he listened to Andrew.

"I told you that I would be back shortly about an hour ago," George replied and he was very serious because it seemed they were pulling his legs.

"I am serious as well, you have the same shirt just like George but you are not him. Please I am kind of busy back there," Andrew excused himself and George couldn't comprehend what was happening.

George called the other waiters who saw him earlier and their response was the same.

"What's happening to me or is this a joke? A they playing games with me?" George's mind wandered around as he stared at Mark.

The waiters started whispering that he could be an imposter while some thought he was crazy or something.

George was lost in thought when some police officers came in, Mark alerted them thinking George might be in danger since someone was claiming his identity.

He was taken away because his statement didn't reveal how he got another look but he wasn't lying since his mobile GPS recorded his movement. Test results revealed that he had George's DNA and a lot of people who heard the story were thrown into confusion as the press got involved.

George was released a few days later but restricted from leaving the house.

"I don't have anything else to say than the stories you have," George shouted at the lady who visited him the next day.

"I am not from the press. You visited my antique shop and I might be able to restore your look if you encountered the problem at my place." She replied.

"What do you mean?" George asked.

"There is a sacred mirror at the shop that mustn't be looked into, it automatically gives you the facial look of whoever you see after looking at it. I don't allow customers around it but this happened because I wasn't in, I stepped out to get coffee a few blocks away." She replied.

"Yes, I saw a mirror. It was covered but I was curious to see what was beneath the cover, please what's the solution?" He asked.

"You have to look into the mirror again and ensure that you don't see anyone 7 hours after but this has to be a secret between us." She replied.

The lady was kind enough to bring the mirror to George's place the next day, he did as instructed and regained his look. The police got the news and soon, it was everywhere again but George never revealed what happened.

He visited the coffee shop the next morning and Mark was excited to see him.

They drank coffee and chatted about the incident but George never revealed the antique shop secret.

I got scared there for a second, thinking that George would remain unrecognizable. This is a sacred warning don't go into a shop without it's owner's being there, hehe😁😁

What was I thinking? I honestly didn't have any valid reason for checking or I thought the antique must be very special for it to be covered.

Thanks for the visit, it means a lot.

It was covered but I was curious to see what was beneath the cover,

Oh George, tsk tsk. 😃 Curiousity gives George a new identity that almost got him in trouble. I think when he goes shopping next time, he'll be extra careful what he sees and touches. A delightful read! 😊

Lolz, curiosity almost killed him and he shouldn't have even checked around knowing that there was no one in there.

I am certain he won't forget the lessons easily.

Antique stores can be really creepy at times but I still love them. Good thing George was able to regain his identify. This story is prove that there are still kind people out there.

Wow! That was a twist that I never saw coming. I'll be thinking of this next time I go into an antique shop with mirrors in it:)

Lolz, such mirror should definitely not exist. People will definitely use it for evil.

Thanks for the beautiful comment.

Those stores that sell antiques can have strange and mysterious objects. Good story, George.

What a confusing situation! Seems like everything was resolved in the end though, so that's a relief! Pesky mirrors 😱

Hehe. George might lose his identity for forever if the antics shop lady didn't appear there. What if that lady didn't appear? What would you do if that happened to you in real life?
It was an interesting one. I loved it.
