The last thing on the list.

After Wayne proposed to Katty, he made her realize he had a list of things he want to do before his bachelor's life was over. She agreed to be part of the fun and they have done activities like sky diving, hiking, and others.

It was time for the last thing on the list and Katty wasn't sure she would be part of Wayne's crazy idea.

"Spending a night on the sea alone is not a good idea sweetheart, I think I will pass on that", Katty's reaction to the last activity on Wayne's list was expected.

Wayne moved closer to her but she refused to look at him.

"That's risky, what if something happens to us out there? I am enjoying every moment with you but I am definitely not putting my life on the line at this point", there was a combination of fear and anger in her voice.

She eventually left the room to sit alone outside Wayne's apartment and after some minutes, he joined her.

"I am sorry dear, everything on that list was written many years ago. The truth is that I and my brother made that list but he didn't get the chance because he passed away. Everything I am doing reminds me of him, I will go alone so don't bother yourself", Wayne apologized as he kissed her on the forehead.

Another weekend came and Wayne packed his things. He put a call across to Katty and while he was waiting for her to pick up the call, her truck arrived.

"I was just calling you to say goodbye", Wayne said to Katty as she was alighting from the truck.

"Oh, so you thought I will let you go alone", Katty replied as she slammed the truck door.

She went inside to pick up her stuff and Wayne was surprised, he wasn't expecting that after their last conversation.

They set out and it was a long ride to the harbor.

"So you got tickets already?", Katty asked immediately after they arrived.

"Oh, there won't be a need for that. I fixed one of the abandoned boats here and it should be okay", Wayne replied.

"Are you out of your mind?", Katty asked in an angry tone.

"No, the boat is fixed. It's the finest here and the repairer assured me that it is okay", Wayne replied.

Katty angrily inspected the boat and she fell in love with the light, flowers, and other designs on the boat.

"I am just worried about us, sorry for screaming earlier", she hugged Wayne, and the angry look he was wearing vanished.

They set out as the sun was setting and Katty was really excited. As the boat moved slowly away from the harbor, the atmosphere changed and the gentle breeze made Katty fall in love again with Wayne.

She didn't take her eyes off him as he removed his shirt and she quickly changed into her bikini as well.

They went deeper and soon the harbor was out of sight and Wayne turned the engines off.

It was dark already but the moon was up and its reflection on the surface of the water was incredible.

Wayne reached for the drink pack and they started from there. They talked about a lot of things and Katty couldn't just stop looking at the moon's reflection.

"I must capture this beauty or what do you think?", Katty asked but didn't wait for a response before she went to get the camera.

She left with the glass of wine she was drinking and she carefully place it on a small drawer behind her before checking inside the bag.

"I found it", Katty screamed with excitement. The excitement disappeared when she turned to pick up her glass of wine and it was empty.

She stared at the glass for a few seconds trying to remember if it was empty when she brought it into the cabin.
"I drank it", a voice came from behind and it turned out to be Wayne.

"You scared me", Katty replied as she smiled. She was about to leave when Wayne pulled her back.

"You have all the night baby, let me capture the moon before it disappears and I will be back for you", she tried releasing herself from Wayne but the grip was too tight.

"Common Wayne, you are hurting me", Katty tried speaking and it seems like she was only speaking in her head.

She wanted to move her legs as well but couldn't, they were in chains already.

"What's going on Wayne", she asked with fear.

"Nothing serious", he burst into laughter after, and Katty's fear increased more.

Her heart was beating very fast as she stared at Wayne's burning eyeballs. The fire in his eyes gradually spread all over his body.

The burning Wayne was about to touch Katty when she screamed.

Wayne rushed inside the cabin to see what was going on.

"What happened?", he asked.

"Stop playing with me Wayne, how can you be two?", she asked.

***"What do you mean? I have been waiting for you to return with the camera", Wayne replied.

"You were here just now, I was just begging you to remove the chains on my leg and you suddenly burst into fire", Katty replied as she pointed to the chain but it wasn't there anymore.

"Okay, babe. You have had too much to drink so I guess...", he gently held her hand and they both went out of the cabin.

"I am not drunk Wayne, something doesn't feel right on this boat".

Wayne decided to take the pictures since Katty wouldn't anymore. He got a perfect angle on the boat and took a beautiful shot.

He returned to show Katty the pictures but she was gone.

"Katty, where are you?".

He was still looking around when he noticed a hand struggling in the water.

"How did you get in there?", Wayne dropped the camera and jumped into the water.

He got into the water and the hand was gone. He even dived deep but saw nothing. Wayne returned to the surface and saw Katty.

"I had a splash and rushed here to see if you are alright, what are you doing in the water?", she asked.

"I saw a hand in the water just now struggling and I thought you slipped", he replied.

Wayne got back into the boat and started having mixed feeling about the boat but he was quick to get over it.

He picked up the camera to show Katty the image but instead of seeing the pictures, he saw the image of the image in the water.

"Did you snap this", he asked Katty.

"I haven't even held the camera since you took it from me", she answered.

Wayne was frightened but he contained it to prevent Katty from freaking out.

They went back to the front of the boat to sit and Katty suggested they returned.

"It is a few hours to morning so let's just sit here and watch the night fade away", Wayne replied but she insisted.

Wayne agreed so they returned to the cabin.

There was strange writing on every free space on the wall and they could hear voices talking in the cabin.

"I told you, something is not right. Let's return to the harbor quickly", Katty said in a trembling voice.

Wayne immediately started the boat engine, he tried holding the helm but it was not there.

Katty noticed it wasn't there as well and she screamed.

The boat engine suddenly went off and the boat lights went off as well. They couldn't see anything and suddenly they heard footsteps approaching them.

Katty and Wayne moved backward together as the footsteps came nearer. There was nowhere to go again so they jumped into the sea hoping for a miracle.

The coast guard boat passed about an hour later and noticed an empty boat so they checked.

They found Katty and Wayne holding each other shivering. They were rushed to the hospital and when they narrated everything that happened, the coast guard thought they might be drunk because there was no writing on the cabin wall and the boat helm was intact.

Wayne requested for the camera to show them pictures but the camera storage was empty and they were warned to stay away from alcohol.

The boat was brought back to the harbor and a few days later, Wayne went to write on the body "The Haunted Boat".

Interesting read👍.
It's good they didn't ended their lives like that because the people would have found it hard to believe that the boat is haunted

No one would have known that the boat was haunted, even when they told the story, it was hard to believe.

I am glad they made it through the night.

This is a fun and very spooky story, @george-dee. The scenario is interesting and unique, and you did such a nice job with making it suspenseful and creepy!

Just make sure you do a proofing of your stories before posting. 😄

"I had a splash and rushed here to see if you are alright, what are you doing in the water?", she asked.

You mean "I heard a splash," right?

He picked up the camera to show Katty the image but instead of seeing the pictures, he saw the image of the image in the water.

What was the image in the camera?
