A tragicomedy full of errors

I woke up late, the alarm clock didn't go off, and I left in a hurry to get to an important work meeting on time.

I didn't even have time to drink my morning coffee. I started running to board the bus, but by the time I got to the bus stop the bus had already left. I wanted to die.

-This day is not promising. I declared, not knowing that the universe might be listening to me.

When I boarded the next bus, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet at home. So I had to get off the bus and retrieve it. I took another bus.

When I got to the first floor of the tower where the offices where I work are located, I realized that I had left the briefcase with the documents I was going to present at the meeting.

-Swallow me, earth. -I exclaimed with disappointment.

The clock did not stop ticking, the morning was still cold and I was already sweating, my shirt was wet and sweat was pouring from my forehead like a waterfall.

Finally, I made it to the office shivering from the lack of coffee. The good thing was that the boss had phoned and indicated that he would be late, not to start the meeting without him. That gave me time to call Jessica (my girlfriend), to go to the apartment, get the briefcase, and bring it to me.

I called Jessica to find out if she had the briefcase with her and where it was. She replied that she could not find the keys to my apartment.

The nervousness was killing me, everything was making me dizzy, my office mates were talking to me and I didn't understand anything. I felt like a schizophrenic man and everything around me was spinning.

I called Jessica again and she answered:

-You want to make me a crazy woman with your phone calls, that doesn't help. I found the keys, but the lock you never repaired won't budge. -She hung up on me.

The office phone rang and it was the boss, my legs buckled, and in my mind was a sentence:

-That he can't come or that it will take longer.

The boss told the secretary that it would take longer, that no one should leave, the meeting was very important.

It occurred to me to redo the documents, I asked the secretary to provide me with a computer so I could work but at that moment there was a power failure; I wanted to die again.

I called Jessica again, she angrily told me that she had already been able to get into the apartment and that she would take a cab to get to my office. But we weren't doing anything if the electricity wasn't restored, things weren't getting any better. If the boss showed up my head was going to roll.

My head already hurt, I couldn't find anything to do, I couldn't converse with my colleagues, and everything irritated me; I called Jessica again.

-Tranquilízate, ya estoy en un taxi, pero hay una manifestación y las carreteras están cortadas, debes esperar. -Palabras de Jessica.

I decided to accept my fate and stood in total silence waiting for events to unfold.

The office phone rang again, it was the boss. He had instructed the secretary that everyone should go downstairs to the first floor and that he would be waiting for us to have the meeting in a room he rented.

When the secretary gave us the instructions, I felt that my world was over, I would be fired.

I called Jessica again and she didn't answer, I didn't expect that my girlfriend also left me.

I was the last one to leave the office towards the first floor and my face only saw the steps, I didn't want to know anything, I was going down by inertia, and I just wanted to die.

Suddenly my cell phone rang, it was Jessica. When I pressed the button to answer the call, my phone turned off. Yet another mistake, I had forgotten to charge my phone battery the night before. All I needed was for a dog to pee on my leg.

When we got to the first floor, at the entrance of the tower was the boss, that image was terrifying, it was like seeing the executioner waiting for me with his axe.

-Come on everybody, I rented the cafeteria for us to meet, hurry up. -The boss shouted.

The cafeteria had an electric generator that allowed it to work and serve its customers.

I preferred to wait for everyone to come in and as the entrance cleared, next to the boss was Jessica.

-When I was in the cab, the police arrived and dispersed the demonstration, then the cab was turned off, I got out of the cab and there was your boss with his truck, he recognized me and brought me in. Here you have a well-loaded coffee that I just bought. -Those were the beautiful words of my beloved girlfriend.

With that coffee everything went back to normal, my confidence was boosted and I was promoted in my job thanks to the good work I did.

Greetings friend, how crazy each of the adversities that happened to this young man, really the anxiety and despair that he must have had, was not normal. The door did not open because of him hahahahahah, thank goodness it was some papers. Excellent writing.

At first, I thought Jessica would get mad at you and give you a shout for stressing her but everything turned out well.
What a magical relief!

Hi @kingsleyy.
I had to stick to the rules of the community, no more than a thousand words, but the story is long enough for more.
Thank you very much for your visit and nice comment.

This series of catastrophic events, well narrated, really amused me. I thought there would be an ending of the same sort, but it all worked out well.

Hello, friend @universemissing.
When there is coffee, the endings should be cheerful, but there was no lack of desire to make a catastrophic ending as you say.
A thousand thanks for your visit and comment.
Regards.

True, you have to be careful with what you declare because it can be counterproductive.

How wonderful that Jessica appeared to save the day with coffee, and that somehow the papers were sorted for the meeting. I do feel worried as I read how often "I want to die" appears... Work can be very stressful, and life can be a whirlwind, but there is always another avenue. I would encourage anyone experiencing these feelings often in real life to seek some support from loved ones, or a professional. 💚 Thanks for sharing your tale of how coffee saved the day!

Thank you for your words.
The boy has nothing left but to have confidence in himself, to be more observant, not to leave things for later or at the last minute and to trust (as you say) in his loved ones.
The papers arrived thanks to the girlfriend and the boss.
Regards.

Greetings @germanandradeg

As I was reading your story I think my nerves were upset. 😱 How distressing to be in such a situation.

Good thing a good coffee saved your job and your day.

Thank you for sharing 🤗👍

Hi, Elizabeth (@elizpc).

When I read your comment I let out a laugh that I think they heard me in Australia and I'm in Caracas.

According to what you say, you enjoyed the content, you were together with the suffering character who wanted to drive Jessica crazy.

Thank you very much for your visit and that very nice comment.
