Casual Photoshoot Using Wide Lens With Fitri As Model
Hi friends in the photography lovers community, how are you? I hope you are always in good health. I haven't posted in this community for almost two weeks because I'm traveling abroad. But now I'm back and ready to share some photos and stories while on vacation.
But first, I will share a photo I took a right before I left for my vacation. This photo session is quite different because I used a wide lens in this photoshoot. Previously I always used a prime lens with a 35mm focal length in APSC. However, in this photo session, I used a 16mm lens. My goal with using a wide lens is to get a new perspective, so I can produce unique photos that I've never taken before.
A wide lens is usually intended for taking landscape photos, but many portrait photographers use a wide lens to produce photos with different views. So I try to challenge myself using a 16mm wide lens. For additional information, I use a kit lens, not a prime lens. So the limitation in this photoshoot process is that I can only use an aperture of F3.5 because that's the most significant F in my kit lens. And here is the photo.
In most of the photos, I see the model's elongated body. I use this technique so that the model's posture doesn't look wide because the weakness of this wide lens is the distortion that will make the model's body look wide. Therefore, I was under the model when I did the photoshoot. And fortunately, the sky was also apparent when taking this photo, so it could support taking photos using a wide lens.
My goal of creating a new perspective using a wide lens was also achieved because the photos I produced were exactly what I imagined. So that got me excited to take some other poses.
With the help of the wind, it can create a hair effect which I think is very suitable to be combined with this wide lens. In the last photo, I had to hold the model's legs to keep her balanced, and my other hand was ready to press the shutter button on the camera. I like the wide lens for taking portrait photos with different perspectives. How about you guys? Are you interested in trying it? Oh yes, and maybe I will soon buy a prime lens with a wide angle to produce sharper images and deeper dimensions.
Stunning shots with that wide lens 🔥 All the photos are really great, but the last one blew me away 🤯
