Why do so many people feel lonely?
In my personal experience for a long time I was so focused on avoiding being hurt, that without realizing it I ended up isolating myself even from my loved ones, there came a time that being in a family reunion all of them were so pleasantly sharing that I felt as if I was not part of that family, despite being surrounded by so many people I felt alone.
It was then that I decided to take control and seek help, I was so introverted that it was hard for me to engage in a conversation for more than two minutes. It was very difficult for me to feel empathy from other people.

Es por esta razón que creo que el por qué para muchos es difícil hacer conexiones reales, es como un medio de sentirse protegidos, es por temor a les puedan hacer daño no físico sino emocional, en particular aun cuando ya soy un poco más extrovertida, todavía hay días que me siento en la necesidad de estar sola en los cuales me dirijo a un lugar en el que pueda despejar mi mente con la lectura de un buen libro, los cuales siempre han sido mis compañeros fieles.

It's great that you sought help when you felt that way. And I agree with you, we tend to withdraw from others because we don't wanna get hurt emotionally especially when others are a bully.
