I'm sure at one point, some of us must have searched either Google, YouTube or Facebook on how to make some cool cash money online. I know I have. Aside hive, I've tried to see if there are online jobs that I can do with my skill's ability and during one of my searches, I came across Affiliate marketing not once, not twice but often times. It has even become so popular that the ads pop up on Facebook randomly whenever I'm innocently surfing the net.

On one of these occasions, I decided to follow through with the ad and even find out what it's all about. The guy making the advertisement did a little presentation and demanded for some payment to sell the course on how to make money through it. As that point, my interest went off so I decided to make findings by myself. After reading about it and also picking out some point from the presentation, I was able to have some little understanding about what it's all about.

What is Affiliate marketing?

It is a marketing scheme/strategy which involves promoting a product or services by sharing it on various social media platforms or blogs. When a sale is generated through the link you advertised, you are then payed a commission which ranges from 1% to 20% and it could even be higher. That sounds amazing right?

As amazing as it sounds, it's not an easy job because it requires a lot. Firstly, you must have a good online presence, be able to reach vast number of people, be able to make presentations, in general, you must be able to create good content.

Types of Affiliate Marketing

• Unattached Affiliate Marketing

In this type of scheme, you have zero attachment to the product. All you do is to promote the ad on social media platforms like Facebook ads and when there is a sale, you get commission over it. You are not responsible for the product, no complain can go through you. You are just a simple plain middle man. This type is the easiest and I think the most common type.

• Related Affiliate Marketing

Here you have some sort of relationship with the product or services. You have an online presence and some knowledge about it. You get to promote it through your own personal social media account and you can atleast say some little things about it. But mind you, they are for products or services you don't actually use.

• Involved Affiliate Marketing

In this type of marketing scheme, you actually use the product or services and you get to recommend those products to People based on your experience. Left to me, this particular one might bring more customers but it is very risky. This is because if there is any issue related to the product or services, you'd be the first person to answer for it. That's because people buy due to their trust in you and when that fails, it becomes a problem.

There are lots of advantages attached to this marketing scheme like it's easy to start, it's a business with potential of earning a lot, it is flexible, there is a wide range of audiences etc. Also there are lots of disadvantages which include lots of competitions. I wrote that first because its one of the highest cons for me. Almost on all social media platform now, you'd find advertising about Affiliate marketing or another. It's so common now and it makes me wonder. Which product or services will you choose to sell that won't have lot of people selling it already? How easy will it be to get audience who will trust you enough to buy from you? Also it requires lot of work and patient. It's not a fast money making place, it takes time and dedication.

In as much as I don't see myself doing it anytime soon, it's something that can be considered. Despite the disadvantages, its worth the risk. If all the testimony online I see is true about people making millions from it, then I think it's worth it. My advice is that, if you're interested in starting, make your own research about it very well. If you are rich enough, you can pay for those selling it's courses online so they will teach you how to succeed in that line.
