Appliques can make a huge difference ✨

A lovely Monday to you all creative minds, I'm glad to be here this beautiful day to share on my sewing journey, hope you are all having a smooth progress in your projects.

Have you ever worn, created or seen a beautiful dress, fitted on it's owner or your own self, and felt it needed something more, maybe an extra flair, a net underneath, a bow, flower, rhinestones, anything at all and when you finally figure it out, you know it's perfect.

It happens to me all the time even before I started learning the art of dressmaking, the inborn artist has resided here for a while, and when I started making dresses, I get an utmost satisfaction now, because I now have more knowledge of what to do to fill in the missing piece of a seeming perfect dress.

I made this dress above for my sister, it's a corset dress made with the combination of plain and sequin velvet fabric, other materials used are

  • Satin fabric
  • boning
  • interfacing to stabilize the velvet material since it's a very material.

Here are my patterns

I joined both the front and back upper part together

Here is the down part of the gown.

As you can see from the giphy above, the dress is ready but I needed a little bit more sparkle, so I went online and search for appliques to give me my desired effect, these wine coloured flower applique was just perfect blending in. I got them, gumed and also tacked them at my desired segment of the dress,

Tada! ✨

It gave me what I wanted. To spice the dress further, I added this choker for her I made using the sequin velvet fabric, I think the choker goes better than the necklace she initially wanted to use. To crown it all, she modeled it beautifully and well.

Please note, all images and giphy used in this post are all mine.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Your talent needs to be taken overseas, this is beautiful and you did justice to the dress.

I am certain that's Jessica, you did a great job ma'am.

Appliques does add some grrat finishing touches.
I have a corset dress and several others which I have sewn and am still to wear the.

Appliques are quite expensive but I can't wear the dress if I didn't embellish it with the applique.

Beautiful outfit dear, you've done so well with the making of this dress, only professionals and skills dress maker can understand how you fix this piece together, seeing those on the ground, one would know you've actually done a great job achieving this outfit.

Thanks for sharing @glorydee

Thanks @bimpcy, you are a great fashion designer yourself and I know you know what happened in the process lol, it's not easy, but the final look is the joy and satisfaction it brings.
