Creative Sunday: I made a bow

(Edited)

Hello lovely people, happy sunday! Hope you are all having a restful or probably fun filled day, for me, I decided to take a very much needed rest as my week has been so hectic, so today on the creative Sunday episode, I will be sharing with us a simple process of how to make a bow, bows can be used on different aspects,

  • As a bow tie
  • A hair bow accessory
  • a decorative piece on a dress

The process I will be sharing with us today is very simple, you don't need to have an idea in fashion designing to make a bow, anyone can actually do, the only differences In this now depends on the measurement, you can decide to make it bigger or smaller, depending on your preference.

For this project, materials and tools used are;

  • A white fabric: any stable fabric of your choice can be used
  • gum stay :This gives more durability to the fabric, to give it a standing effect.
  • matching thread
  • sewing machine : you could also work with a hand needle if you don't have a sewing machine

1 Starting, I measured and cut out my desired length and width of fabric, using 10" as the length and 6" as the width,

2 Next, I cut a 1.5" strip, keeping this aside for a while

3 I folded the 10" pattern, then sewed the edges together, leaving a space of about 1.5"-2" in the middle

4 next, I adjusted the sewed middle part to be in the middle, then sewed the two raw edges

5 now, using the opening we left in the middle, I turned it inside out, also using my scissors to bing out each four corner well

6 Now back to the 2 inches cut out strip, I sewed it edge, then turned it out

7 Use the small turned out strip to hold the first already sewd and turned out pattern in the middle, just as seen below 9n the picture

8 after arranging and holding it , sew it to keep it in place and cut out the excess strip remaining

That's it, the bow is ready now, so easy right?
I made two

trying it on my beautiful niece hair

To make it as a bow tie, an extra thing needed is a fabric glue and elastic, measure round your neck using the elastic, and just attach it to the bow with the help of the glue.

I hope you found this post helpful and easy to follow, if you found any part confusing and need more clarification, let me know in the comment section.

Please note: all images used in this post are mine

Thank you for reading❤❤

Good work @glorydee.. For a moment there, I felt there was too much fabric but you made it work.. Also, is this a hair bow or a bowtie like your title says?

Just a bow actually, which can be used both ways

As for the fabric, I made a dress with it too, the bow was part of the accessory used.

Good really good, honestly speaking from the beginning I was expecting the length to be longer, but this is really nice.
