Hello lovely hivers

Image edited by me using canva

Welcome to my blog, hope your day is going great. Today, I will like to share with us the making process of this beautiful dress I made, a few weeks ago, I shared a post about the challenges I faced making this dress and tips on how to overcome them, today, I will be sharing a detailed DIY on how to achieve this design. If sewing is what interest you or you have a passion for art generally, you will find this process inspiring, so stay tuned.
The dress style is a princess bustier, with a yoke also a straight gown with puffy sleeves, within is an inbuilt corset as the dress is meant to give a snatched waist effect. I successfully snatched the waist of the owner of the dress, a friend of mine from 28 to 24 inches.

without further ado, let's get straight into the making process

Materials/ Tools used

  • Damask fabric
  • Satin fabric
  • Regiline boning
  • Matching thread
  • Skin net
  • eyelets
  • Zipper
  • Warden
  • interfacing
And of course my tape rule, sewing machine, and scissors.

PROCESS

  • To start with, I drafted my pattern, starting with the front pattern, the yoke of the upper pattern was achieved using a skin net.

  • here is my back pattern, like the front part, it also has a yoke made with the skin net as well

  • I drafted the base of the gown as well, for both the front and back.

Note that all these patterns are also replicated using the satin fabric

  • Next, I joined the front patterns together of both the damask and satin fabric,

  • Continuing, I sewed the boning to the satin fabric, this is to help in the waist snatching,

  • Next, to the back pattern, I made an extra pattern that is going to have a lacing as the main fabric will use a zipper. I attend the boning to this extra pattern and turned all together with its lining fabric and joined both front and back together.

  • Now, for the sleeves pattern, I cut out a normal basic sleeve pattern and a bogus sleeve, to achieve the puffy sleeve, I gathered the bogus sleeve to the normal sleeve. Finally, I attached the puff sleeves to the bodice of the gown.

I already added eyelets to the back extra

To enhance it more, I tacked rhinestones to the chest and the waist.

And here is the final look.

Please note, all images used in this post are mine, except otherwise stated.

Thank you for visiting my blog❤❤.
