Intelligence has to be proven generally

School as a system in no doubt has raised a lot of intelligent and likewise unintelligent personal. So do we say the getting good grades in school means that such person is an intelligent folk, for me, i will say its an absolute no, don't get me wrong, i know the school system was made to improve our natural sense also prepare us for the outside world. But the world keeps on evolving, and most things taught in school remains the same, decades after decades so how do you expect student to meet up if the syllabus doesn't change.

Most people see the top grades student as intelligent,
source

for me, i will say they are just that academically, because when most of such student, goes to the outside world, leaving the four corners of the school wall, can they really meet up with other aspect of life? Socially, financially, economically, spiritually and a lot more, that's where the real intelligence comes into play, if you meet up with your grades in school, but can't meet up in other aspect of life, You are not intelligent, you are brilliant in either memorizing what you are being taught in school or you are just good academically as I stated before.

If you take a look around your surroundings today, you will see a lot of have baked graduates that can't even express themselves properly, while others can't put to practice what they learnt in school, they might have passed out with good grades, first class even, but coming to the real world, it's another thing entirely, they realize they can't survive on their own on the outside. You see a lot of them looking for white collar jobs, they can't think critically on their own on how they can be a solution to the world thereby even creating employment for others.

While there are some people who have not seen the four corners of the classroom, flourishing well in their businesses even employing the graduates to work under them, with just life experiences and thinking critically, they were able to mingle in the world, create life changing solutions, can you call them unintelligent because they didn't go to school? Of course, no! So you see that having good grades in school doesn't qualify you as being overall intelligent.

With that being said, i would conclude that being intelligent is a personal thing in that, you could be born naturally intelligent but if you don't work on it, in every aspect you find yourself school included, then you are not fully intelligent .

All these being stated above, is my personal opinion, if you support or feel otherwise, feel free to drop a comment.

Thank you for reading, see you in my next post.

@glorydee it is one such wonderful and to the point response to the given question. I read other posts where i found the authors going away from the topic. You have written it fabulously 👏👏....

I agree with you that there are some businessmen who aren't educated yet employing the educated. Certainly they are intelligent. Getting good grades is not the guarantee of high intelligence

Being intelligent is natural and if one do not work on it, I don't think anything else could be possible to be intelligent. Going to school and getting good grades doesn't measure up intelligence alone but your ability to solve life's experiences and adapt to new situations.

to reach an intelligence must go through an effort. with diligent effort, intelligence will automatically come by itself.

I read a story whose title was "Degrees Destroyed Them". It was a teacher who was telling the story of her two students who achieved the 1st position in studying but they didn't get a job because what they learned in the schools was something else but the real-life experience was something else.

Going to school and getting good grades doesn't mean you're intelligent but your ability to understand and adapt to certain situations.
