Teachers are among the most significant individuals in our society because they educate, develop, and raise young minds to be beneficial to society and the wider world. The future of the younger generations and future generations depends on them. Even though teaching is a difficult profession, it's sad that they receive less compensation for their efforts.

I've had a variety of tutors over the years, and because of how they taught, I had favorites and least favorites among them. I've had the opportunity to teach myself, and while it can be exciting, it can also be very demanding. I know plenty of people who would have adored to be teachers, but the meager pay turns them away. As a result, teaching now requires passion and perseverance.

If I were to be a teacher, I would love to teach Mathematics

WHY?
My favorite subject in high school was mathematics, despite the fact that the majority of my peers detested it. My mathematics teacher made it extremely simple for us to understand, and I believe that because I was interested in the subject, it was simple for me to grasp the concepts quickly. It can be challenging for some students to understand though, because they have already given up mentally on comprehending and enjoying this topic.

Introduction/Orientation matters

So as a teacher, the first thing would be to calm their minds and make them realize that if they put their heart into understanding basic calculation and formulas, the complex ones is just the aggregation of the simple ones.

source

I've had the experience of tutoring my fellow classmates while I was in school and found that the reason they didn't understand what was being taught was due to their weak mathematical foundation. As a result, I take my time to gradually return to the foundation; over time, they begin to grasp the concept and are surprised that they thought they would never be able to.

Teach them to take away their Fear of mathematics

The fear of mathematics is the beginning of failure, you will end up confusing yourself the more, I recall while still in secondary school and always listened to how the senior ones who had already gotten admission into the university would make calculus sound like the greatest of all maths, so I decided to study myself before ever being taught, and discovered with time that it was all about following basics rules for each question given, I didn't let the fear consume me when the time came to be taught by my lecturer during my time, I had already gone beyond that stage.

Be a friend of mathematics

I would make my students fall in love with mathematics just like my high school teacher made me to by being patient and not too strict like the teachers that makes their students jump out Of the window when they arrive.πŸ˜ƒ Because of their being too strict and don't have any iota of patients for their students. They will even be the ones to instill fear in you that you can never know maths or pass their test and exams. That's a big lie because anyone can achieve what they put their mind to.

This post is an entry to the hive learners weekly contest, week 51, edition 1.

Thank you for reading ❀❀

One thing about subject like this is that when your mind isn't there, you will believe it is so hard to comprehend. My Mathematics teacher didn't help matters then and I thought the subject is a hard one.

It was until I got to the University I got to understand that it isn't that hard but following the formulas is very important.
This man made it simple and enjoyable for me. Till today, that man is loved by many students because of how he broke down Maths to an understandable method.

Your first image isn't sourced. Perhaps you forgot!

Teaching job requires passion and perseverance because that meager pay is not going anywhere and everyone needs money....
Maths is a subject I once thought but there are some that gave me headache honestly.

I respect all maths And English teachers

True, we all need money, and the government or schools are not ready to treat teachers well yet, that is why list if us run away from teaching jobs.

I find math quite interesting as it always keeps you on your toes not to relent or you forget all.

They deserve the respect πŸ€—πŸ˜

Yeah, I like mathematics back then in school because of passion and the willingness to learn it. Mathematics is simple if we make a determination to be its friend, it will automatically work for you.

Thank you for sharing with us.

Mathematics is one of the easiest subjects to teach but many people are out to kick against this.

Wow teacher gloryπŸŒšπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‚. I love the way you see things from your side. Which is if all mathematics teachers can be friendly to their students they won't be fear in them and they will learn quickly.

The points that has been outlined here are what most maths teachers try to encourage their student with.

Indeed, just like every thing in life, the foundation matters. If the foundations bad, no matter the quality materials one tries to use, the building will always crumble.

The making maths ones friend is also valid, that way, one's mind becomes open to understanding the subject.

Reading through your post made me smile. Very brilliant ways of expressing your self. If I was a student I did chose you to be my mathematics teacher already.

I was thinking I wouldn't read any post on somebody wanting to teach mathematics.
Helping students get over their fear for the subject will be a nice way to go by and also helping them be a friend to mathematics will go a long way too.
Thanks for sharing this very interesting points with us.

So as a teacher, the first thing would be to calm their minds and make them realize that if they put their heart into understanding basic calculation and formulas, the complex ones is just the aggregation of the simple ones.

How I wish someone told me this in primary school.
I am part of the students that don't like maths at all and I'm happy that it is not compulsory for my course of study.
Although, I must say, maths wasn't necessarily hard in secondary school because I had an amazing teacher that took his time to teach us and made sure we understood it well enough.
But when I got to the university, I did it in year one and, let's just say I passed it by the grace of God.

It's nice to know that there are people out there that like maths though. You would make an awesome maths teachers from your points here.

Yeah, the initial fear just makes it sees a difficult, but with time and the right tutor and your 100% interest makes it easier. A lot of us had to go through bad foundation, reason why we just gave up on maths, glad you passed it in your year one.

Thanks for coming around and sharing your view, I really appreciate πŸ™

You were very right by telling your students to face eliminate the fear. I think because of improper mathematics foundation, students are brought up with the knowledge that it's impossible to understand mathematics. But I'm glad they really had such a wonderful teacher to show them that it's not hard at all if you set your mind to learning it.
I grew up loving mathematics since my dad is a mathematician. So I can really relate. Thanks for sharing.πŸ’—

During my first year in the polytechnic, we did statistics and digital electronics and a lot of students found it difficult to assimilate despite the lecturer awesome teaching style.

I discovered that they have developed hate for calculation even before they got into higher institution. The idea of I can't know mathematics, it is a difficult subject has prevented them from opening their mind to it.

I took tutoring up and we started from the basics , they did inspire because I made good cash from them.

Teaching is awesome, a lot people know it but not everyone can teach. Being a mathematics teacher requires you to be jovial, lovely and always willing to break down problems into easy bits to aid quick understanding.

Apart from the low pay teachers receive, they are also barely recognised and awarded in the society.

I love mathematics at some point even in higher institution while studying mass communication and I encountered course subject such as statistics which triggers my interest in pursuing a career as a research analyst but then it did not come easy, I remember I had to practice formulas for hours in order for it to stick.

But mathematics is not as difficult as people assume but the fear of maths gets the better of them.

I agree with you. Mathematics is not that hard if you only understand how it works. I think anyone can get the formulas and how to calculate. It's just they give up easily without knowing the procedures.

Or maybe I just love mathematics subject just like you. That's why I am thinking the same thing as you. πŸ˜…

It's probably because you like math😁 just like me, you can't convince a math hater that it's actually a simple subject.

Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects but I love Physics most. I don't know why people fear Mathematics subject where I feel better to do the math. With practice, mathematics can be easy for anyone. We just need to come out from the fear of it and take it positively.

Our mind is a very sting part of us, once we decide we don't like a thing, we tend to block ourselves from knowing it which then leads to the complaint of mathematics is difficult.

Thanks for stopping by.

Indeed, when you have a negative mindset towards something, it's almost impossible to make anything positive out of it. Mathematics can only be fun when you love it.

You have everything sorted out to make your students incredible at mathematics, kudos.

#dreemport brought me here and I'm happy I was brought here 😊.

Yeah, your mindset toward anything determines how it would be in the end, it can be said to be the foundation.
