My worst traffic experience

Hello everyone, this will be my first post on the hive learners community, so I read about the contest for the week, although this is not an entry just want to share my experience of a bad traffic jam incidence I had some years back.

I think almost everybody living in Lagos, Nigeria due to its high population, would have at least one traffic jam experience also known as hold up or go slow as we do call it here in my country.

This incidence happened about 10 years back, so my hubby, then boyfriend had invited me over to his workplace so we could hangout after work since it was a Friday, you know the TGIF vibe, as I had just returned home from school for the semester break, since we haven't seen each other in a while, i was excited to see him because obviously, i missed him since its been like 4 month we saw each other last due to the distance between the state where I school and our state of residence.
So i prepared myself, dressed up, did some light makeup, with butterflies rumbling in my stomach, i hurriedly told my mum that i was stepping out to visit my friend and would be back early,

I took a public means of transport to his place of work, the journey to his work place was smooth, as I arrived earlier than I expected, since I was there already, he had to close from work early so we could at least catch up on the time we've been away from each other, as I needed to get back home early too to avoid my parent from grounding me for staying out late.

We visited some fun places together, ate out at an eatery, also we did some shopping together, we were so involved with each other that we got carried away, by the time we realised it, it was already late and getting dark, i started to panic and told him to please drive me back home immediately, he obliged,and kept calming me down on the way saying he would explain to my mum that he delayed me, he said she would understand. I was not even listening again as the lovey dovey moment has cleared from my eyes, all I was after was getting back home before my dad returns from work. Suddenly, we found ourselves stucked in a traffic,

and it wasn't even the type that was moving at all, i started to cry o, that my dad would arrive home before me, while he kept petting me that he would take the blame on my behalf when we get home, that he was ready to even face my dad, because only my mum knew about him then.
While waiting for the hell of a traffic to move, a bike man just rode by and to us roll up the car window glass that there was a robbery currently going on ahead of us, as he rode off, suddenly, we saw three hefty men come out of the dark from the bush by the side of the road with gun, axe and a stick,unfortunately for a man that was about two cars ahead of us, who didn't roll up the glass window of his car, he was strucked with the stick and robbed at gun point, every car around was seeing the whole event but couldn't do anything because they were scared for their life too, i totally forgot about the punishment waiting for me at home and started praying for a sort of miracle to happen so we won't be the next victim, i was so scared because I've never witnessed such horrible scene before and it seemed that no help was coming anytime soon, at that moment, i wished we were able to dial 911 just like I see people do in the movie, miraculously, the police siren started blowing from distance, i guessed someone called them that a robbery was ongoing, as the robbers heard the siren, they fled into the bush direction they came out from initiatially with the man's laptop bag, and phones , in a moment, the traffic started moving, it was later discovered that the road was blocked by a faulty trailer, the man that was robbed stood akimbo for a while beside his car, people were trying to console him after the incidence inside their car, fear didn't let them dare come out, the man just ignored all of them, entered his car and followed the moving traffic.
As we arrived home very late, my dad was already back home in the sitting room,I begged my boyfriend to go back home that I will face him myself but he insisted and followed me in, as we entered, he started introducing himself, i don't know how he got the courage that night and started apologising on our behalf that it won't repeat itself again, i guessed my dad saw something in him, or my mum tried to cover for us, i don't know,surprisingly, he just told me to get inside, didn't punish me but had a very long talk with my boyfriend and even invited him for lunch on Sunday and that is how our journey started and landed us before the alter.
