Teenager wants a new look/style, and I granted her wish🤗

What happens when a client asks for a change of look?

That was what I had to face doing this project. A friend of mine who regularly patronize me to make beautiful dresses for her and her daughter, recently, she complained to me that her daughter who just became a teenager is now asking for a change of look/wardrobe, according to her, most of her dresses are babyish, she wants a teenage look for her next dress, and her mum didn't know what style to chose for her this time😂, she is already used to choosing smaller baby girls style for her little girl who is growing so fast, I told her I will think of something to give her her desired teen dress, still according to her taste, she loves sleeveless dresses, she is very picky about what she wears at such a young age, good thing I'm here to fulfill her heart desires.

The Process

The fabric brought was an African
print fabric also known as ankara, and the purpose of the event they were attending is the Mothers day celebration that took place yesterday and it was attended in church.

I decided to combine the fabric with a sample lace material, which I used as the yoke of the dress, with a V-neckline for both front and back, and I also used it to design the off shoulder kind of sleeves.

The main bodice is made as a straight gown with sweetheart neckline. It's a simple yet beautiful look, instead of the usual gathered dress at the waist gown she was use to having and wearing, this is a switch for her.

Here it is sitting pretty on my mannequin, as soon as she saw it, she said my mannequin looks like a fine girl haha, next she fitted her dress, and liked its fitting on her.

Her mother's tension calmed, she tested her dress as well, and they left happy and satisfied with their new dresses.

Welcome to the club my dear teenager its about that time for her to explore her passions and desire.
We can only guide them on how to be decent rather than push them to do our bidden.

Hi!. It's great that you can adapt to the style of your clients as they grow. Undoubtedly, the pattern making for girls is very different from that for adolescents/adults, more than anything in the part of the chest, but I see that you handled it very well. I liked the lace sleeves, they complement the patterned fabric well. Congratulations 💕.
