A Visit To The Market The Other Day

This days people are very careful of what the buy because the price of items as sky rocked so much that an average man can not afford, so everyone results to buying what is really needed par time, no one just lavishes money like that, well of cause unless you have excess.
So the other day I went to purchase some food items for the house, yes I wanted cooking and buying things at the kiosk shop around my residential area will only worsen the situation since they are the main retailers and the gain the want for each items is so much that the price of these things are so expensive than buying in the market, so I boarded a motorcycle and headed to the market straight up.

Here is so of the things I could buy 👇👇

Fish:- The price of fish is no more funny, buying a good fish now has to cost you a fortune
Buying this fish will cost nothing less than 20 thousand naira which is equivalent to 29 HBD, so you see life over here is on the high side, but we all have to survive.

Palmoil:- I can remember some years back that a bottle of Palmoil was sould for 500 naira which is even less than 1HBD but right now the cost Is 1000(1.5 HBD)

And aside these two things I bought other stuff but wasn't opportune to take a picture of them.
Well this is the picture of the market in view 👇👇👇👇

I want to say a big thank you to @dswigle for putting up this community I love it so much.

Those small little markets are good for an emergency and also for items that there isn't too much difference in price, but, with limited funds, I find that they are too expensive to use for my weekly shopping. It just doesn't make good financial sense, except when it isn't financially worth the trip to town.

My goodness! 29 Hive for that fish?? That is highway robbery!! I know how expensive it is over there, but, that is unbelievably expensive! I am very lucky as we fish and go crabbing and clamming, so most of our seafood is pretty free. (the only thing we have to do is purchase a license every year, but, it is pretty cheap) I agree, we have to do what we have to do... but, it is getting harder and harder.

I thank you for sharing your trip to the market with us!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can benefit a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

I agree! I am horrified by the prices. When staple items are unaffordable, you know it has gotten out of hand. We shouldn't have to make choices on necessary items.

I hope and pray that things will get better for all of us.
