Hello, Hive artists!

Today I bring you an illustration I made recently of one of my cats, which is called Azabache. He's the youngest of them all and I don't think I've ever done a portrait of him before. I hope you like it a lot!

Hoy les traigo una ilustración que hice recientemente de uno de mis gatos, el cual se llama Azabache. Es el más joven de todos y creo que nunca le había hecho un retrato. Espero les guste mucho!

STEPS / PASOS

I started by making a cross, which I did with a ruler to make it more precise.

Empecé haciendo una cruz, la cual hice con una regla para que me quedara mas preciso.

Then I made a diamond-like shape for what would become the face.

Luego hice una figura parecida a un diamante para lo que vendría siendo el rostro.

To make the features of the face, I started with an inverted triangle for the nose, which would help me to place the eyes and the lower part of the head. I made the ears based on the position of the eyes.

Para hacer las facciones del rostro, empecé con un triangulo invertido para la nariz, el cual me ayudaría para ubicar los ojos y la parte inferior de la cabeza. Las orejas las hice guiándome de la posición de los ojos.

After I finished placing the parts of the face, I erased the reference lines and started to add details.

Después de terminar de ubicar las partes de la cara, borré las líneas de referencia y me puse a agregar detalles.

When I finished the detailing, I painted the eyes, the muzzle and the background, as I didn't want the illustration to look a bit dull.

Al terminar de detallar, pinté los ojos, el hocico y el fondo, pues no quería que la ilustración se viera algo sosa.

After that, I focused on giving colour to the face and for this, I applied about 3 layers of black watercolour, (always letting the previous one dry).
