Hands Up - Who Likes My Plums!

yep that's what I said, plums

20220913_151556.jpg

A few years ago Mrs goblin when on a rampage planting trees all over the garden. We already had an apple tree and a pear, but noooo that wasn't enough. I didn't pay it much interest at the time as it's her hobby (gardening/plants/growing stuff), and I'm not.

This year she mentioned that it was time we harvested the plum tree before they all fell off and attracted fruit flies all over the place.

That's 'Gangster' our cat safeguarding the tree.

as I work from home as she is still having to mind a class full of young goblins on site (teacher), it was left to me.

I was given a big steel bowl with the expectation that it was going to be full when she got back.

I normally don't do as I'm told, (being all alpha and all that), but the weather was nice and id had enough of trawling youtube. The lady's tennis was also over, so I went outside with the metal bowl, wondering of id fill it.

well, the bottom line is that I filled it in 10 mins. The tree which was little more than a branch that arrived in the post a few years ago is an impressive little tree full of what looks like oversized large black grapes.

in total we got 6 big steel bowls of them, ... most were handed out as there was just too much to keep, .. the rest of it went into homemade jam.

@slobberchops would have got some but it's been so long that he's been around here that he's probably forgotten the way and if I remember correctly he's not a fruit or salad type of person. (not that you could call this either of those).

Anyway, since then Autumn his here, and iv trimmed the tree, as it was at the edge of our garden and could somewhat overhang into the neighbor's garden. and I wouldn't want my ripe plumbs in the hands of the nice people next door now ...... would i.

Have a great Xmas and new year if I don't post before, .. which is likely as this is my first post in over 3 years, but like the big man said, ......... ill be baaaak.

Very nice. I can't remember the last time I actually had a plum. There is a place down by where my sister and brother in law lives that does a pretty amazing spicy plum sauce for chicken wings. It's been a while since we visited that particular bar, but I remember they were quite delicious. That is pretty impressive the haul that you got from such a young tree. I tend to kill plants more often than not!

At last a post!

We've got an old plum tree that can be quite productive. Someone had some and made us some jam. I've given a lot away as there's only so many you can eat. A lot of them just end up rotting on the tree or the ground.

Enjoy your jam.

If you have a tree then there's always too much. We often put apples and stuff by the gate for people to take, but plums go off in about 30 seconds. They can be nice to eat straight from the tree.

These are the best plums! In Denmark we call them sveskeblommer.

You're back!!!!

That didn't take too long for a bumper harvest, I always thought it takes years for anything to grow off trees. Maybe we should plant a few Hive and see if they do as well 😄

But seriously, fresh plums are really nice!
