Fly High!

Playing Splinterlands can be a valuable tool for geologists to learn about plate tectonics. This world experiences more earthquakes per week than Earth does in a millennium. Even my battles take place under the Earthquake ruleset now and then. I've found that there are strategies to turn this ruleset to your advantage. One such strategy involves acquiring Brighton Bloom, a Dragon summoner that grants the Flying ability to all monsters in its pack, making it almost unbeatable. Another successful tactic I frequently employ is using Kralus, the flying tiger, together with Chanseus the Great to create a winning team. Here's one of my sets.

Some may argue that using Corsair Bosun as a tank is not wise. My initial strategy was to have him resurrected once he perished and regain his armor. In retrospect, I should have used Chain Golem as a better and cheaper option. However, in the end, the outcome was not affected either way.

I have higher expectations for Luminous Eagle, a relatively inexpensive flying monster that possesses the Reach ability. This card is ideal for mid-mana cap Earthquake games, and it is nearly invincible in low-mana cap games under this rule, particularly when paired with a healer or healing summoner.

Bila the Radiant's Life Leech and Divine Shield abilities should have allowed her to sustain herself, even though she would receive 2 damage every round. Unfortunately, my set was too slow compared to the buffed Water cards, so this plan ultimately proved ineffective.

As I mentioned, Kralus was the standout card in my set. His healing ability and Chanseus the Great's Repair made for a formidable combination. Furthermore, Kralus' Flying ability allowed it to evade any damage caused by the earthquake and possibly dodge some physical attacks. Kralus again proved to be an excellent card and the only one that survived until the end.

Pelacor Conjurer and Soul Fiend were positioned in the rear of my set to protect Kralus from Sneak attacks. Regrettably, Soul Fiend died very first, and I wasted my summoner's resurrect ability on it.

The Battle

I must confess that I made several significant mistakes as mentioned in the preceding paragraphs. However, my opponent only made one mistake that cost him victory. He did not adapt the strategy to the ruleset. Despite dominating four rounds and wiping out my entire pack except for Kralus, his monsters were one by one eliminated by the earthquake. I must acknowledge that I did not win this match, as the ruleset was the real victor. Nonetheless, I have learned a valuable lesson that I can now share with you.
