Day 2, Visiting My Nanay and Tatay at Their Residence
While ago, I also decided to take a visit my Mother's Parents, My Nanay and Tatay. My Nanay and Tatay have many cassava plants and everytime we take a visit in their house it is already expected that we cook something for our snacks. Exactly 8 in the morning when I arrived on their place and they are very happy to see me. As for that, my Nanay decided to cook cassava role as for our snacks, I felt very excited because it's been a long time since I did not taste cassava role again.
First, we went to my Tatay's garden were many cassava were planted. When we gathered enough cassava crops, and we decided to went back so we can start peeling it. When My Nanay is done peeling the cassava, they started to scrubbed it in a pointed and sharp thing called, GUDGURAN. The reason why we did this is to make the cassava become very soft and polvurized. My Tatay carefully scrubbed the cassava crop so that He can avoid in wounds. I was very happy that they teach me how to cook cassava role and this will be addend to my learnings and ideas on how to cook this kind of Pinoy and delicious snacks.
The next thing we did is to do extract of the scrubbed cassava. It should be squized it so that the water comes from the cassava will come out just like the one in the picture. We used clean clothes and put some right amount of cassava.
The extract water will be mate into Flour and the best method of doing this is to put it in the safe place and carefully removed the water and the white powder left will make as flour. Sometimes we used this as an organic fertilizer and we fermented it for three days before applying it to the plants, particularly vegetables.
The dried cassava should be place in a clean place ready for pulvorizing. This is one of the methods on how to make cassava role snacks. It should be polvurized carefully and perfectly so that it will easily cook later on. The big chunks of cassava will be crimpled and make sure to broke it into small pieces. I having an enjoyable time spending together with my Nanay and Tatay cooking and making cassava snacks. I am also very thankful about the ideas they shared to me, this will be a very help for putting a small snack business in the future.
My Nanay was busying pulvorizing the cassava and really enjoyed watching them doing the steps of cooking cassava role while I am also wrote down the Ingredients and steps on how to make this kind of snacks. Their preparation is obviously clean and the washed their hands so that it will keep the snacks very clean. One of the kitchen utensil they used is called, Steamer. This is a kind of thing that full of many small holes and it will place in another steamer with water.
When the cassava is ready, the next step we did is to mix all ingredients just like brown sugar, shredded coconut and margarine. Food coloring and vanilla is also good for this kind of snacks. The ingredients should be mix properly and very well so it will balance the taste. Perfect proportion of the ingredients should do also so that the snacks will be more delicious.
It will be more attractive if it will equally round size just like this one. I m very enjoy making circle of the cassava and it will be ready to put it in the steam and cook for 45 minutes.
