Farm Exploration at Sitio Linangga Manticao, Misamis Oriental
We built two concreted fish ponds and each area contains 5,000 fish. We feed the fish every morning and afternoon, we also put a net on the surface of the fish pond so that the bamboo leaves do not fall directly into the water. We decided to put a fishpond under a bamboo tree to keep the fish from getting too hot and from being seen by the birds. We put the small fish in a net so that the big fish don't eat them. There are also tall pipes in the area, through which the water passes from the well we made near the river. With submersible cables it is easy to get water to our fishpond.
On the other hand, I also want to share the almost finished waiting shed we made the other day. We made this for my son's upcoming birthday, the guests wanted to sit outside because it was crisp and cold outside. It also helps to have a place to rest for a few minutes. We are already placing wood where the bamboos will be nailed to make chairs. It is better to use strong wood like molave to avoid damage. We also thought that the roof of this simple but unique waiting shed would be made of coconut leaves. That type of roof is more attractive to look at because of the unique design and can maintain a cool and fresh place particulalry inside the waiting shed.
Next I went to our mango trees. We have a few mango plants here, and some of them have flowers to see. This is a sign that our crops here are about to bear fruit, I am happy with what I saw because it is the first time that our mango plant will bear fruit. We hope that our fruit plants here in our farm will bear a lot of fruit. To prevent insects from invading, we burn the leaves and smoke the bottom of the tree to prevent insects from approaching. Some of the mango blossoms reach the flesh of the hand so it is easy to put paper to wrap the fruits.
These are our coconut crops and due to the intense heat we are experiencing here, the leaves of our other coconut crops have gradually dried up. Our trees here such as mahogany, molave, and many others also lose their leaves due to heat or drought. This is normal in summer here in our area and the leaves only come back in the rainy season.
Due to the heat of the weather, we also temporarily stopped hauling dry wood for firewood. This is the thing we use for hauling heavy things and the buffalo pulls it. Many things are also carried when using it. This is also what we use when we harvest coconuts, we put it here to make it easier to haul the coconuts. We turn the dry leaves into fertilizer for the plants, we collect them and put them in a place called the Compost Pit. It's fun to live in the Province because of the beautiful and fresh places, you can also plant different types of plants, vegetables and fruits. Until my next article, thanks for visiting and reading my post.
