Random Post: "Getting More Firewoods, Garden Activities and Making Traditional Mats"

Greetings everyone, as rainy season happens here in our Country, it is important to gathered lots of firewoods. We don't used any stoves instead we used firewoods just like dry coconut palms. For today's blog is random, different kinds of activities I did as part of obligations. Our placed contains lots of firewoods because of the coconut trees we have here, lots of dry coconut palms and other kinds of dry branches can be found and gathered here. Early in the Morning, I decided to went at the farm to search more firewoods and I removed the coconut leaves using my sharp thing I brought. This is what I always do here in our place, it can less the family expenses by buying stoves because we only used firewoods.

Garden Activities:

This coconut sprouts are ready to plant in our vacant place here at the farm. It is very perfect to plant this day because it is rainy season, planting different kinds of valuable plants just like coconut trees and bananas is very important specially when we have wide and spacious areas. It takes a few hours at the farm before I decided to went to my garden to check my plants and vegetables.

I was very happy to see that some of my vegetables and crops just like this Camote and Chilli pepper was growing very healthy in fact, it already produces more chillis. I am very proud to myself because my good fruit of labor is already have a good result. Taking care of this vegetables is a must just like cultivating and watered it. I also checked those leaves to see if there are any tiny insects just like appids living in the plants leaves, and also removing the wild grass. Adding an organic fertilizer is also perfect so that the vegetables and crops will grow healthy.

This Banana Stems is very important here in my Garden. I chopped some of this and fermented for three days before watered it to the vegetables. Some of this banana stems will be cut in equal length and make as a covered materials to the newly growth plants to avoid burned of intense heat from the sun. The withered banana stems will also make as a fertilizers in the plots I made for my bell pepper plants. This place was once a garbage areas but I cleaned it and turn into a simple Garden, in this way I can developed the place into a productive one.

Empty bottles just like this one can also be recycled into a garden tools. I cut those empty plastic bottles into half and put those plant that needs to vacuum. This kind of methods helps the plants to become stabled and easily grows before planting in the Garden plots. Plastic cellophane is also used for covering and vacuuming the plants also, I learned this during my college days and those hard propagated plants or vegetables must be vacuum for 1 week, the moist from the plastic can make the soil always moist and soft.

I also make a seed bed were the seeds will temporarily planted until it will grows in exact length ready to replant. This is the best alternative way specially when there is no seedling trays, by making garden plot just for the seeds. It takes almost an hour of making this seed bed and in order for the soil of not being washed out, I put some planks on each side of the plot and mixed with an organic fertilizer just like sawdust. The soil and the organic fertilizer must be mixed very well before putting the seeds.

Traditional Mat Making:

This is the traditional Mat we've created here, it is made of Romblon leaves. First we removed the stalks on its leaves, rubbing in a hard objects just like bottles or lumbers so that this leaves will become dry very fast. After that, we hanged it and for many days until it will completely dried up. When the leaves are dry, we started to knetted those leaves. It takes lots of days depends on how big the mats we want to make. We learned this to my Grandparents and it is important to have this kind of skills so we can have a comfortable mats to sleep or selling it to the market.
